Help on loading troops/aircraft please?

Post by Remenents »

So its been a long time since I have played, and I am trying to load some troops and aircraft from Sydney into some xAK and xAP ships... but for some reason it is greyed out and I can not select the units to load. I know I have enough room and ships and the troops are all set to Strategic... I just can not load them. I did the exact same thing for troops in Hawaii and San Fransisco without any issues. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: As a matter of fact, the troops are not even showing on the load screen, but the aircraft is and its greyed-out.

If they are restricted, they cannot be loaded onto a ship.

A transport TF loads unrestricted units in strategic mode.  An amphibious TF loads units in combat mode.

How do I unrestrict them then? Or how do they BECOME unrestricted? Kind of hard to put up any sort of defense when I can not move my troops to the battles. :(

EDIT: I figured out how to unlock them by changing their command... but doing that will cost a TON of points that I just dont have for all the units I need to unlock. Is it worth it? Is there somewhere I can see when they become "unlocked" to me?

I think I figured it out, not sure. I never noticed the [S] and [R] on the end of some units. interesting.

Restricted units do not automatically become unrestricted unless they are triggered by some major event (I believe invasion of the US and certain parts of Australia are examples). You simply have to buy them out of restriction with political points. That's why the game has political points (which accumulate SLOWLY oh so SLOWLY), so as to stop an unrealistic shift in assets that would normally not happen due to political or other national considerations.

White-colored names can't ever be unrestricted. Yellow can be with expenditure of Political Points. What you spend those on is up to you. There are many demands on your meager supply in 1942.
