What Almost Never Was

What Almost Never Was

Sometimes you learn just how close something didn't almost happen. Such is the case with SPWAW. Yesterday I got sent an e-mail from a well known writer and I opened the letter, being in a rushed state with the spwaw release do in days. I click on the e-mail and WHAM! POW! the now imfamous "I LOVE YOU" virus attacked.

It destroyed over 8,000+ files and spread to two other machines in less then 10 seconds destorying files on two other computers as well.

We were in within minutes of makeing a press release posting that the game would be delayed for about 2 weeks (the need for the two weeks being that we are going to E3) when the Matrix Miracle started.

In true US Calvary form the Matrix Games team spirit jump in. Before I knew it I had Frank Donati, Joe Osborne, Erik Rutins and Bill Wilder faxing information and helping. The true hero was our Media Releations person and my brother Daniel Heath. He came over and brought over his anti-virus programs and spent just about all night fixing and reinstalling all the machines with me after working a double. To think growing up he wounldn't even look at computers <grin>.

So before bed tonight say a little thank you to God and Daniel who saved the game that almost was not!

......and yes we plan on making our May 8th release.

Davd Heath

P.S. if you get a second drop him an e-mail at danielh@matrixgames.com

Yeah, that's why I have been immediately deleting any suspicious emails that I have gotten in the last couple of days.

Jeeze, you have no idea how tuff it's been waiting this weekend for the release, 2 weeks would've been a nightmare!

I am in the UK, any idea what time over here it'll be available?

I got to work this morning (Monday New Zealand) and had 40 odd "I love you" entries.
