^ District 9 and I believe there have been some rumours of a sequel.

Yes it was District 9, one of my top-10 favorite films. Excellent sci-fi with an original storyline and some interesting subtle references to South African apartheid, for those of us who are old enough to remember it.

I would recommend it to anyone, especially fans of sci-fi and alien stuff!

I am still waiting for part two, wondering if that alien ever gonna show and help that dude lol.

Was a great British TV series back in the early 70s called UFO. I remember back in the day when I was a school-kid counting down the days every week until Friday night, when it was aired. Pretty cheesy dialogue but the whole concept (costumes, music, story, plot-lines & special effects etc) were brilliant.

I liked Blake 7 another UK production, the genre is not dead Battle Star Galactica was pretty good spoilt by the clones who were pretty much identical to the humans to the point that you could not tell them apart (hmmm wouldn't that make them human)just looked like a way to get the main characters more screen time. and they could never die LOL, At one point I was expecting that all the humans left would turn out to be Cyclon clones[:)]

There is more than enough good sci-fi out there just needs the production values and right actors, as long as they don't make a remake of Lost in Space with the cast of Friends.

SciFi in general (outside of the superhero genre) on TV is pretty much dead.

It's sad, but it makes it that much easier for me when I cut the cord last summer. There honestly is are 0 shows on network TV that I have any interest in.

I liked that show - it was heavily promoted then disappeared without trace.

Like that too - it was heavily promoted then disappeared without trace again, the promotion ended as the show started.
I went to a few S:AaB fan club meetings.


Hopefully "The 100" won't get cancelled. I think I should pretend to dislike it to give it more of a chance of survival.



syfy channel: They lack credibility with me - looking for programming in the UK they turned down the suggestion of the original Godzilla movie and then broadcast Emmanuelle in Space.

Dark Matter is an excellent show. It's got a real 'Firefly' vibe (without the six-shooters). And it got renewed for a second season.

It's like anything else, fads come and go. Much like these tablets now that took the place of notebooks that took the place of laptops for awhile. People can't make up their minds what they want. So, they keep some things alive longer than others.

Look at tv, used to be free, now it's cable and satellite and dish. Gotta pay to watch a football game now, that used to be free to. Same with baseball everything is pay pay pay.

Like DLC that used to be included in all video games, now you gotta pay for every little thing.

What happened to cassettes and 8 track tapes? VCR's? Transistor radios? Vinyl records even? Oh, there's a few of them around but they aren't mass produced anymore by any means. Something else has taken their place and tomorrow something else will take the place of something else we use today.

I mean I thought I was making a joke one day when I said "someday they'll be charging us for water and air" and sure enough they are today at service stations. That don't even give full service. Even Walmart has us checking out our own groceries, there's hardly any service anywhere anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw a full service station with a gomer or goober there to fill my tank up or wash my windows and check my oil. Now, everyone is a goober or gomer (shazam). [:D]

If you add in the prequels that were added later plus the 2nd trilogy added later to complete the story, you have the makings of a 5 season series like Game of Thrones. Would love to see it happen.

Who is excited for The Syfy's The Expanse? I hope with this and Star Wars we are at the beginning of a space opera revival!

My wife is childhood friends with Daniel Abraham and has kept in touch with him over the years. He is very enthusiastic about this adaptation of his books. The series pilot has been getting outstanding reviews, so I'm cautiously optimistic that we're in for a good ride.

I gave up on the Star Wars franchise some years ago. I hope that this latest doesn't salt the earth like episodes I-III did so thoroughly, but-quite frankly-I just don't care that much any more. It's one of a number of different "universes" out there-by no means the greatest rendition.

I'm enjoying the Star Trek reboots very much. One of those is coming out mid-2016, so I'm looking forward to that too.

I liked the storm trooper movies would enjoy seeing another of those. And anticipating some time District9. That movie left you hanging asking a lot of what-ifs.

You need to try the first season of the SyFy TV Series “12 Monkeys”
Very good characters, good story and some mind blowing time travel.

Be sure to start with the pilot and follow straight through.
A real mind bender.
