Question about target priority

Post by Swedelicious »

So, I still have'nt found a thread to post random and probably stupid questions.

Is there a way to make enemy units concentrate on one singe unit with the editor? IE, say I have a ship with a very precious cargo, and that ship is protected by a group of other ships. How do I make sure the computer controlled AI units do everything they can to sink that particular ship, and ignore the other ships until the first one is destroyed? Can I do this with the point system somehow? I mean, do AI units go after enemies that give them more points?

You can specify it in the strike editor.

Use gods eye view to select the target when creating the strike mission.

So turns gods eye view on in the editor.
Select the target
Open the missions editor and create a strike mission. Notice that what you selected is now listed as the target. Assign the units you would like to the mission.

So what happens is the mission will trigger when that target is detected.

I have some trouble to getting this to work the way I want to. I have a cargo ship with a plotted course, and some RHIB:s that are teleported to the area whenever unit X is detected. Both the cargo ship and the RHIB:s have a mission to attack unit X. They are also equipped with explosives (IE suicide mission). What I want is for the cargo ship to leave the plotted course and set course towards unit X on full speed. The same with the RHIB:s, obviously (though they are not on a plotted course). What happens, however, is that the cargo ship keeps following the plotted course. The RHIB:s aims at unit X, but they go a mere 25 knots instead of the 40 knots that I want them to. Is there something I have missed in the mission settings?

Another problem is that some of the RHIB:s are running out of fuel while they are waiting to get teleported. Is there a way to get them to stand still while waiting, and start to move only after they are teleported?

Edit: Ok, I just found out I can pre-set "Ignore plotted course when attacking units" for enemy units too. One problem down.

I have looked into the Lua commands, but I found no way to add a RHIB with custom weapons (like a explosive, for example).

Next version of the game will be able to add an import file which should allow you to add mod'd units.

For now though if you just drop the units somewhere and use teleport add them to the mission after the teleport should prevent them from moving.

Thanks!
