air landing

How are air landing units used? I can target airborne units and conduct air borne ops, but I can' see a use for air landing units.
Can they be dropped or "landed"? Or are they nothing more than a gloried infantry unit that uses amphib transportation?

Once you have focus on the unit you wish to air transfer while in unit transfer mode, right click on the air field you wish to move it to and like Magic it will move to the air field (if eligible, of course). Unit will have 0 MP left.

They are great for reinforcing your lead units. As your lead units over run an airbase, you can fly a division (without su's attached) to hold the airbase. You can also fly in regular infantry divisions this way. About two a turn, but make sure they have no su's attached yet.
