WAD? - No ORM please

Post by warspite1 »

I cannot find a couple of things in the RAC re Overruns and wanted to check a) what is the rule, and b) is a particular aspect working as designed?

Firstly - if a port is captured with out of supply (but organised) enemy naval units in the port, these have to re-base. Are there any penalties for being out of supply and having to re-base? For the purposes of this rule does Overrun also mean any situation where a port is captured by an enemy and there are ships in that port - i.e. not just the Overrun stage?

Secondly - The rules state that the owning player decides whether the naval units abort individually or in groups. How does this work in MWIF? I can only see an option for individual ships re-basing one at a time.

The program treats any change in control of a hex as an overrun if enemy naval units are present. The obvious case is when a land unit enters an enemy port. It also occurs when a country is conquered, surrenders, or is liberated. Other odd cases are the creation & dissolution of Vichy France. And there might be other places in the rules where hex control changes.

Out of supply naval units suffer a 1 MP decrease in the movement (but not range). When more than 1 nationality is in a port, another 1 MP loss will occur. One reason why you might not be able to move units together is that submarines and surface ships cannot travel as a group. But otherwise, you should be able to move units together when they are forced to rebase.

But how? How do I click on more than one vessel? I am in the Rebase Overrun Units Digression - what do I click to get the Kriegsmarine units to move as one?

The Selectable Units form only lets you selct one unit. It is mostly used for air units (which can only be selected one at a time).

Flyouts or the Naval Review Details should let you select multiple units. You can also select multiple units by cycling through the units in a hex - but the process is much more complicated. I use the Flyouts if there are less than 10 units in the hex and the Naval Review Details if there are 10 or more. Oh, and you can also use the Select Units form for the purpose of selecting multiple naval units.

You can also control left click the hex and it will select all of the naval units that need to move. If you do it that way, you'll have to manually remove subs from the group.
