Looking for beta testers for the 2.09 update

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Looking for beta testers for the 2.09 update

Post by CapnDarwin »

We are going to have a short beta testing period for 2.09 and we are looking for players who can both test and report back on issues. We would really like to have those players having problems with 2.08 in order to see if certain bugs are squashed. Of course other players are welcome too and can report back that the fixes and tweaks are working for them. We hope to start this testing early next week once we finish work on the last couple items and get a beta build ready for Matrix to put up. In order to participate you will need a members area login.

More details will be flowing out as we get into the weekend and have a better idea of timing.

Thanks.

I would like to, but as you know I'm at Camp Atterbury and on the night shift and wont be able to do any testing. As a matter of fact, I should be sleeping right now, but I can't.

I'm one of the one's having the PBEM login serial key problem, so more then happy to test out that aspect of the beta in Steam and/or the direct Matrix version.

Map66 are you having login problems with the Matrix version? We do have a fix for the Steam version login. We did not have the latest version of the login code. That is resolved now. As far as I know, the Matrix version has not had any problems with login. Different code/system. Let us know.

I'm getting the "serial number registered to another user" in both the Steam and the Matrix/download version--- I have both installed on my computer at the moment.

Map66,have you talked with Matrix tech support about the serial numbers? In the Matrix version, assuming 2.08,what happens when you go to the settings (button under login) and do a verify serial number?

In the Matrix download version, when I click on "verify serial number", it gives the same message of "registered to another user."

As I mentioned in the tech support forum, when I delete the .ini file, the Steam version will allow me to log in once to the PBEM ++ server, but then will give the error message on any subsequent tries. I assume that eliminates a problem with the serial # as a source of the error. As I posted there, my gut feel is again that it's something to do with the encryption of the serial number, login ID or password in the .ini file.

You can fix the steam issue by doing a verify serial, closing that window and then logging in. The Matrix version is a different problem outside of our code. Does your serial number match the one you can find in the Members area?

That verifying serial number in Steam works the same way---- allows just one login.

And the Matrix download serials are correct and all. I wonder though if maybe having two seperate installs of the game on the same system (Steam and Matrix download--- I had really just installed the Matrix download to test out the bug), might be causing a conflict somewhere. Probably best just to un-install the Matrix download one, use the work around for the Steam version, and then see how things work after the next patch.

I have both, really several version loaded and other than the steam bug, which is now gone (2.09) I have no issues. Never really had one with the Matrix version. Keep us posted on what happens.

Sounds good---- once 2.09 is out, I'll play around with both versions and let you know if there are any problems.

I'm waiting impatiently for the 2.09 beta. With the current bugs affecting orders execution, I was forced to stop playing the game.
Lest we forget.
