I might have seen this in the Stalingrad railway station scenario. When Germans shoot at the Russians hiding in the buildings/houses on the hill the bullets may pass through the buildings. There is a down slope behind the buildings.

Folks,

Sorry for the silence this last couple of weeks. I've been out of town (and amazingly out of internet connection) on a family emergency. I will try to reassess where we are and get myself moving on PCO patch this week.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience

Another short update. While I haven't checked off items on the patch list, I have made some progress this past week. I've been working on creating random battle templates for quite a few new and existing maps that up to now have not been available for the Random Campaign generator.

This patch will make 26 more maps available for use in the Random Battle and Random Campaign generators, including several of the 2km maps.

Thanks

@Rick: is there anything like an eta?

I don't really have one. We have one item left and it's being worked on now.

After that item is finished, there are still some "cleanup" items to be done before the patch can be released. Things like a readme, and making adjustments in some terrain maps to accommodate the code changes, and a few others. There aren't a lot of hands working on it, so even the cleanup items take time to wrap-up.

Thanks

Save game attached. This happened a while ago if I remember right. I just went into the scenario and tested it and bullets still pass through buildings but not by much.

You're right this was reported a while back, but it was not addressed in this patch. I had tried to duplicate it but I wasn't successful, but this save demonstrates it quite well.

Thanks!

i have request. I hope this is an easy thing to do. How about an icon on the UI that pulls up a page with the hotkeys and closes when clicked. I've been playing CMBB and appreciate that little UI feature. never hurts to ask.

There is a hotkey 'k' that pulls up a list of all the hotkeys. So if you can remember k for keys, that might work.

If you think the icon is still needed, we can consider adding one to the UI, but not for this patch.

Thanks!

I was doing some quick tests and I've run into a problem with Map Maker. After digging into more, it appears there may have been another change in the Google Maps API.

I'm going to do some more checking to see if I can work around the problem. In the meantime, if anyone has used the PCO MapMaker recently, please let me know if it is working for you.

Thanks

Where/what is the problem? I have not used the editor to create a scenario from start to finish in a while but have used it to produce elevations for topo maps that I have been working on. I will run through the process when i get some time.

The issue is with MapMaker. I had used it late Dec. maybe early Jan in testing some of the changes that have been made. At that point it worked fine. I needed to create a test map for another feature a few days ago and when I tried using MapMaker it would consistently give me a >34 colors error when importing a terrain map from Google. I then tried the current MapMaker that is with the released game and had the same issue (although the error msg then was >32 colors).

I then tried importing and existing map and found that the google image remains visible even after loading and exiting map. That shouldn't happen, and that is probably responsible for the earlier error msg about >32 colors. Further investigation leads me to think that the Google maps v2 API used in Map Maker is the problem. Perhaps Google has recently turned off the "wrapper" they had previously been using to support legacy v2 API applications.

To test try importing or loading one of the existing maps (but don't try to save it unless you change the name). I think you'll find that even after loading the map, you'll see a google map overlay and won't be able to edit your map or even get to the map.

Thanks

Yes, I just tried importing one of my maps. I am getting the same exceeding colours error and then as the map is trying to load I see the square map sizing overlay for a few seconds followed by the google map overlay. I am getting an additional info box asking if I want to keep running scripts on the page but I have had this before and it does not seem to bother anything. I did not notice the excessive colour error as I have only been generating the elevations .bmp and playing with the corresponding google earth map image inside of paint.net.

Thanks for confirming that. this is a new issue with MapMaker. I had fixed the error that generated the question about scripts. But this is a new error that I suspect is related to MapMaker using the Google Maps v2 API rather than the currently supported v3 API.

thanks again for confirming.
