Hawk versus Goblin (Again)

Post by Goblin »

A bit unusual for us....

4000 base points on a large random map. It generated fairly open country, with a few hills here and there. Light tree cover. Random visibilty came out a 47.

No aircraft or infiltrators. We are going to do 15% artillery, but only On-Board stuff (mortars/fieldguns). We also will only use up to 15% on armor! Thats right, 600 points only.

The sides? Well, for a change, we have gone with an imaginary war between England and France in June, 1934. I set all stats at 60 for both sides. This should be a good time!

Come get some of these fish and chips, you French Poodle!

Not a surprise to most, but we did not see a single French soldier this turn. With a sight range of 47...

Maybe your troops could gently set the rifles down instead of throwing them while running. They might go off, and hit someone.:p

Ok! The French have been sighted! Hard not to see one of those massive FMC 2C's! They are supported by some of the older FT-17's, and alot of cavalry and M/C units. That's how you got the hexes first, Hawk. M/C units are quite fast.

I had mixed feelings on seeing those behemoths! On one hand... OH LORD, there are FMC 2C's!!! On the other hand, they represent about 1/3 of his available points....:) Give or take. I guess that means less targets. Then again, None of my tanks can touch one... But, I can easily outrun one.... See? Mixed feelings.;)

One of his tanks took a potshot at me at 30 or 40 hexes (did you set your ranges, Hawk?), but missed my Armored Car. The fight will be on soon, I imagine. Oops, the French rout will be on soon, didn't mean to mislead you guys...;)

If i had any doubts about the Brits showing up for the Party ....im mistaken!!!! I've spotted 5 Vickers Mk2's in my Central Front and 4 on my right!!!!!!

The stuck up Brits unleashed thier little 18pdr's on my Central Front....  (ohhhh stop please don't....  )

Now you shall feel the might of the French my friend.......

Oh boy. Hawk is hammering me with his 75mm Field Guns. Oooch, ouch, that hurts... We need the 105's and 155 FG's, lol.

Meanwhile, I see alot more Frogs, but we are not really close enough to engage yet. The map is large, and we started far apart. I imagine the French will stop advancing; it saves retreat distance...;)

Thanks! It would be really cool with some on-board 105's or 155's, but this is still nice.

First blood! A French M/C unit has been torn up by a Vickers Mk2 Medium (or two ;) ). My Mk2's have also engaged one of those monsters that Hawk has. I see several more of them. He must have two platoons, which means he hasn't got much more armor left, other that those FT-17's. I now must simply blow the FMC-2C's to bits.

French 75's are firing counterbattery on my 18#er's! It's soooooooo ON right now, French Boy! You leave my teeny tiny (somewhat useless) cannon alone, or else!

Right then, off to cricket.

First of all, the peasants in the area just poured out of their houses, thinking it was time for Church. This is due to the 15 or so shells that went BONG off of those monstrosities you use for tanks. They thought the noise was Church bells. Still, my Cruisers valiantly close the distance (CHARGE!!), and those mammoth support tanks are within 250m!! Some closer, as my Armored Cars swarm to within 50m of them.

Your Cavalry has found my infantry. A brief firefight took place, with out much result. There seems to be a sharpish rush occuring on my right flank by enemy Cavalry.

Elsewhere Legionnaires have been sighted in the center, rushing to support his CS tanks.

My Eighteen Pounders hammer ( ) away at his positions everywhere! French Troops cower in fear of the death raining down on them.

Hawk, if we try this style battle again, lets turn the Arty Versus Soft targets up to 120 percent so these field guns are even more fun, what do you say? Its quite a change over those Off-Board batteries.
