Difference between games ?

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Are "World at War" and "World at War: A World Devided" different games?

Is the difference so big that you would buy a new digital version of "A World Divided" over a very cheap used boxed version of "World at War" ? From what it says in the catalog i see not many differences.

Depends.[;)]

Having played both, but not very recently, I'd say the first game is a pretty good indicator of if you'll want the second. Battle animations are missing from the second game, and IMHO they should have been made optional, even if they were pretty humble affairs.

The second version has several improvements to the dip/research area. The first game is good on it's own, so for a bargain price it's a good way to see if the system appeals to you. I think either choice is a decent beer and pretzels global war game.

In short, if you don't like one you won't like two, and if you like one I'd wait for two to go on sale before purchasing (like I did).
