Tough crowd![:D]

Did my turn...I am sweeping and strafing the Allied tank army on the Chiang Mai/Tuang Gyi road. No AA there, but I don't expect any results other than eating up his supply. The first four elements have met my new line...maybe I can hold. Perhaps he will hold off a day or two for the follow on units to catch up. I probably should have LRCAPed the hex too, but I forgot.[:-]

What else am I up too. Reorganized the IJN and having a crack back in the Andamans...the midget subs are returning, but have no fear as two Iboats are on deep penetration raids each with a midget.

I set up my HI air defenses, moving AA, etc, etc. Tokyo pretty heavily defended both for defense and naval strikes. Put fighters all the way to Sendai...if it were me I would bomb Sendai, knowing the bulk of the defense was at Tokyo...but you never know and by the time you do know it is too late.

Cap Trap over Ponape with Oscars.

I expect one thing to work right, and then not as well as I had hoped.[:D]

B6N1 stops production, out of engines. B6N2 starts. Last squadron is upgraded to the B6N1 today...

Latest estimate of Toko rocket engines will be July 44, can I hold until then? Same estimate for the Ha43 which is the final George and Sam J engine. I am hoping that Sam J and Ki202 both are active in late 44.

Night fighter research seems to be going ok: Nick d should be available in Jan 44, maybe sooner, while Peggy and Frances NF should be here in May 44 roughly in time for the B29s. Irving Sa should start producing Jan 44 too. KAI Dinah won't get here until till July 44 most likely. I think I am sorry I researched the KAI Dinah.

Peggy T in April 44, Grace a little later.

I just need to hold on for the wonder planes.

Some Allied night naval bombing to no effect on an AMc at Trinkat. For some silly reason he sticks around is subsequently sunk during the day. I thought he was moving away...oh well.

The Deathstar moves away...still two carrier groups there.

In a bold move Georges sweep over the Allied Tank Army....and shoots down 7 planes (4 Corsairs and 3 Mustangs) for no loss.[:)] The follow up sweeps by Tony meet empty air...this is in Burma.

The Japanese sweeps pave the way for strafing Oscars...about 60 all told in two groups, and then a Sentai of Helens at 4000 feet. Their are five Commonwealth/British Tank units here and they fire back with their topside machine guns bringing down 4 Oscars. The Oscars actually inflict some damage, the Helens a little more.

But the Allies strike back with a little more force: 2 Lightning sweeps, 2 Jugs sweeps, and about 5 bombing runs. OH my! This means the tank army is going to attack...my poor troops can't get a break![:(][:(]

The Commonwealth attacks, as expected....but the IJA holds! Unexpected![:)] Those strafing Oscars made the Allied tankers use up their ammo, and the Japanese (next to a major road) are well supplied and even drawing reinforcements.

The midget subs make it back to Trinkat, with fuel to spare.

No damage done, but no losses either, so chalk that up for a solid midget sub victory![:D]

A little drama in China...

I have 10 Chinese units isolated right before the mtns, but they are held by only one Tank Regiment, who for the last three days has fought off three successive shock attacks. Tomorrow, coming to their relief will be 750 AV in the form of two Infantry Divisions. If he shock attacks again it will be very, very bloody!

Interesting!

Here you can see the manhandling the 33rd Division has taken against the Allied 2000 tank Army on the Tuang Gyi Road.

Don't do this at home, guys![:-]

Well, we are sending in the big boys again in the Andamans, this time to bombard Trinkat, combined with some strafing, and Irving S providing night LRCAP (if that works). This time they are screened by a larger CL/DD task force with a very low number.[:D] We will see if I can teach those chindits a lesson...probably not. I am sure to hit at least one minefield, although it is swept as of today, plus run his gauntlet of subs, night attacks, pt boats, and Fletcher star that is sure to show up.

Georges will trap some B24 over Lunga...and the Akagi is out of drydock and heading to Hiroshima for now.

Plus, hopefully a shock attack by the Chinese again today near the mountains...

All the Artillery is combat moving towards Pegu...looks like I should get everything out of Burma but a shell of a construction engineer unit that retreated into the jungle.

Here is hoping that I can hold off the Allied panzer army another day...

Trinkat: The Surface action group based around CLs and DD goes first, pummels a sub, and the heavy bombardment force comes second. 5BBs, 2CA, spotting planes, and they inflict 11 casualties.

Tonies strafe for no effect, but the Chindits do shoot at them.

The attack is disappointing. I despair of kicking these guys off this rock...I guess I can ship some artillery in?[&:]

The George Captrap works...combined with some heavy AA at runways in Indochina a good day in the air, plus one of those dastardly long range recon planes destroyed too.

Tracker lists 214 B24D1 Liberator losses, 158 B25D1 Mitchells lost, and 160 B24D losses.

No attack in Burma; No Chinese attack near the mountains, but he is moving fresh units across a river to open the hex up.

Deathstar has disappeared.

Allies have an emergency, so probably no turns till sometime after the weekend, which is fine as it lets me really get some serious planning and organizing done.

More bad news, the Allies recon a major air facilities on the HI. Really, not many secrets left and the Allies are I am sure planning their air strikes.

I am looking at ship experience and base floor training levels, and taking time to expand from my original focus on AMc's to other ships.

I definitely need to weed out incompetent Captains in important ships...

It doesn't take long for a decent Captain to train a crew up to the floor level.

Image

I suspect it is a lot harder to nail a ship with a sub launched torpedo with a crew experience of 50/50 than a ship with an experience of 25/25.

AO seem to get to 50/50 experience. So does it benefit to convert TK to AO, get crew experience, and then convert them back?

I guess there is the opportunity cost of all the downtime for conversions, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Good thought.[&o][&o]
