A long, long Indian Road...

Post by Alexandra »

Well, now that I've beated ID2 once, I can get back to playing Sp: WaW. Unfortunately, due to a crash, my S-grad save file's been corrupted, so I'm playing Long Long Road with an Indian Core.

1xUS HQ (which I'll change as soon as I can)

1xPlatoon Cruasder CSs (So far they seem useless. The 3 inch howitzer doesn't seem to hurt anything!)

1xPlatoon Scorpion Mine Clearing tanks (only ones I could get with anything but a 2# gun - and they clear mines too! Whoo!)

1xMortar Platoon (1 FO, 1 3in mortar, 3 SPA 3in mortars)

1XAA Platoon (4 tracked Quad 50s)

1XIndian Infantry Company

and, my coolest bit

1xIndian Airborne Company (+), with integral, attached Dakotas!

Yes, I have a 4 platoon airborne company and Core Aircraft!!

Whoo!! I can airdrop all over the place and never waste support points on planes!!

That sounds bad@$$!! I'll have to try that setup; the integral planes are a cool idea. Don't want to airdrop? Leave 'em behind.

Thanks.

But, it sounds better than it is. The Indian Infantry has such low exp/morale numbers, even for it's elite troops that once they take fire, they're very hard to rally, etc. I may, at some point, edit mine, to give them levels equal or near to other commonwealth airborne of that time period.

Questions for all you UK/Aussie/other current or former Commonwealth people out there :) - or anyone who's a Guru with them :)

1. What's the proper way to use the Crusader CS? It seems useless. I could get better infantry results with a Pz I with nothing but MGs, and it can't kill a tank at all.

2. Anyone have any suggestions as to how - and what nation - to use to make a South Arfican force?? It seems they're the only Commonwealth nation to get left out of the game!

That CS is useful for smoking AT positions till you get into mg range for your other he-less tanks. That's all I've ever been able to do with them.

I view them like some sort of armored mobile direct-fire mortar or something. :p Good for smoke and suppression, and they are also good bullet magnets. Never use them on their own, just single ones or in pairs in CLOSE cooperation with infantry... like a rolling platoon mortar. :)
