Well, maybe London is not prickly, perhaps it is thorny with flak?

Here is what the situation in Poland looks like :

The British, French and Polish are very well played, and we are taking losses beyond our expectations. At sea we
killed more subs than we lost, but ours were much higher quality, and that is no bargain. We slipped some U-boats
past the Royal Navy and into the Atlantic.

On the Polish front we have lost multiple PzIV-D and these are our best panzers. The Poles attacked in a well
executed counter to our moves and caused heavy losses for the attacker's size. We took Poznan, but Warsaw and
Bialystok hold, and are held in strength.

Our airstrikes in England were directed at the enemy air factory base complex. We lost quite a few quality fighters
and some bombers, but so did the RAF. This is the time of the Battle for Britain and the Luftwaffe is more interested
in air superiority than damaging British troops.

The Maginot line has fallen and all troops there killed or captured. We also incorporated Luxembourg into the Reich.

The Imperial General Staff has been refreshed.

Our war aims have been reviewed, and peace has been offered to China and the Soviet Union.

The General Staff remains vigilant in the defense of the nation.

Yes, we have a change. Unsure if it is permanent. But for the sake of the game, I stepped down, at least for a couple of turns, so the game can flow again...

On the coast of the Mediterranean the city of Marseilles fell to the Germans. The defenders were brave, but over
powered. Bialystok also fell in the East, but the Poles in Warsaw hold out. German reinforcements are on the way
 if needed.

The Kriegsmarine made significant attacks yielding these results :
              RN KM
 CV Courageous 1 0
 Early CV 3 0
 BB2 2 0
 BB3 1 0
 BC1 1 0
 CA1 6 0
 CL1 2 1
 DD2 23 3
 SS1 0 7
 SS2 0 2
 SS3 0 3

Some of the ships sunk were originally French, but all sail under the White Ensign now.

The Luftwaffe did not find the RAF in the skies again. Other than some engineers the flights were unproductive.

Germany made some progress in Czechoslovakia, splitting the country in two parts. In Poland Warsaw still holds out
and we may not take it till the Czechs are subdued.

The RAF struck at London, Portsmouth, and the air factories. Once again the RAF did not really challenge the Luftwaffe.

The Kriegsmarine fought another large battle in the Atlanitc.

At Kriegsmarine HQ the staff was analyzing the results of the naval actions. They came up with multiple observations -

1st : The Royal Navy, for the most part, was deliberately staying out of range of Luftwaffe land based air.
2nd : The U-boat threat to surface forces is real, and the side with the most, or best placed, submarines can often
win a surface battle even if they do not have a surface superiority.
3rd : Surface forces are powerful, but in threatening situations, where air and sub-surface threats abound, they will
   take horrific losses.
4th : Once they are sunk the surface forces are frequently not rebuilt.
5th : If the KM is going to be a vital part of the German Armed Forces they really need aircraft carriers, but other
   weapon systems usually have priority.

 Suggestions -

1st : Go for an all U-boat force to dominate by denying the sea to the enemy.
2nd : If power projection is the goal, then build carriers and surface escorts to support amphibious operations.

Naval operations were light this month, the Royal Navy lost 2DD2 and 3SS1 sunk.

All of Czechoslovakia and Poland were taken.

London was hit hard by the Luftwaffe along with Plymouth.

If China is a mouse it is certainly a "Mighty Mouse". Japan is putting much more effort into the land war in China that it wants to.

In Europe the Germans are reorganizing and moving some units to frontiers with currently neutral nations. The Luftwaffe continues to punish England, and this turn they hit Southampton also. The Kriegsmarine continues to attack the Royal Navy when they can find them.

The Germans (Turkish edition) take Mosul. The Bulgarians join Italy. The British Isles are bombed again. 20 BF-109 downed, 30 Hurricanes. The Kriegsmarine sink every Royal Navy vessel they find.

In the East the Japanese do not have success at Kaifeng, but continue to pound Canton. The Chinese are tough customers, and we do not see this land war in Asia going along well. Perhaps the Germans and Italians will be in a situation where they can help. In a certain sense the Chinese depend on the Franco-British and Americans to win the war in Europe. The USA is not in the war, and the F-B are being beaten up, so Japan has some time.

A good month for the Axis in Europe, but not so much in China.

A large naval force was sunk in the Atlantic by U-boats. Reorganization continues.

In China the powerful Chinese armor hurt our tanks badly. This is not a strong Japan.

The Chinese hang in there, but with only a fraction of Japanese production, they need external support to keep them in the fight, thanks to the Soviet Union who have provided some much needed airpower, more is needed[&o]. But the Anglo Saxon's have let China down badly, the consolation will be that they are next perhaps I should have taken that offer to join the Axis[:)]

The British counterattacked in the Lebanon against our troops moving south from Turkey. We are moving troops there.

We found and sank a RN carrier group.

The RAF continues its campaign in England. At this point we have killed 140 Hurricanes at a cost of 91 BF109s.

The Japanese, who have a standing offer of peace to the Chinese, wonder if perhaps they are fighting the wrong war? The Chinese efforts are helping the very British who do not aid them. The Chinese have fought very well, but success in a wrong effort is no gain. Japan managed to take Canton.
