scout1 vs ultradave, '43-'45 Campaign

Post by scout1 »

Turn about is fair play, sides swapped on this game with me being the Allies. Turn 4 with Sicily about to be cut in have and a number of German units soon to be working potato farms in New England for the duration

Yeah, this is not looking good for the Axis right now (that would be me). I think I made an error being a little too aggressive in active defense and got overextended. Now in full retreat and reorganize mode. Methinks Sicily is lost... soon.

Bomb those ports near by so they lose supply and can't escape by sea. Your air force is a very potent tool. And move your short ranged air groups onto Sicily.

I did manage to extract and put together something resembling a new defensive line to hold for another turn or two. Still pretty much cut in half, or will be again after Scott's turn. The good news is that routed German unit near the north coast is the Hermann Goering division and is now back in action. I give it 1or 2 turns and he'll be in Italian garrison clean up mode.

I hope you've destroyed those ports so he has to run across the ferry and make sure your attacking the ferry hexes. This will choke off his supply and escape route.

Don't they have to be in a port (not a temporary)? And in a large and undamaged one to speed up prep ?

All remains quiet on the Southern front as my Amphib HQ's SLOWLY ........ build prep after repairing damage .... Knew I should have declared the red light districts off limits earlier ......

This AAR has been quiet as Scott sorted out his invasion preparations. Finally ready, he went for a bold stroke directly at Rome. This could have worked out well for him as my defenses were mostly farther south. I did have enough mobile forces to immediately attack the invasion beach heads (there were 4 of them). Our armored forces collapsed two of the beach heads and drove the invaders back to see the first week. This screen shot shows the end of the German (my) turn after concentrating everything possible on the remaining two beaches, where he had landed at least one armored division to reinforce the initial invasion. Off to the west are the routed units of the remaining beach heads as we drove all the way to the sea.

Between his long prep time and this massive setback, he will need some serious regrouping.

Meanwhile in our parallel game with me as allies, we are stalemated in Italy but the invasion of France has commenced, in the Le Havre region. I'll post in that one when the results are seen.

We are restarting this one after my crushing is mainland Italy invasion. More to follow in a new AAR. Invasion of Sicily is underway.
