Speaking of Boela, there is now a CAP of Zeroes....from Manadao..or Ternate or a CVL?

Morning Air attack on Boela , at 80,110

Weather in hex: Light cloud

Raid spotted at 13 NM, estimated altitude 6,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 3 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 4

Allied aircraft
B-17D Fortress x 1

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
B-17D Fortress: 1 destroyed

Looks like the squadron stood down but as the truism goes: "There is always one guy who doesn't get the message!"

I suspect the rest of the squadron is getting their oil filters changed

We send the weaker A-24 squadron to Brisbane and bring in some USMC Vindicators from Suva.

B-17's crew have virtually no naval attack skills so they will go after PM airfield.

USN/RAN cruiser squadron will sortie toward Cairns tonight.

The downside of American pilots and ground crews coming to Australia. Here they are getting ready to infect their victims with a social disease.

Wait...how did Argos-san know that? Here caption that came with picture.
“There were so many things that are different from now and men had buttoned flies, all army uniforms had buttoned flies, and then along came the Yanks and they had zippers – and you found yourself trying not to look. They really made the front ofmthe trousers very neat, I tell you and they didn’t really come into the civilian population in Australia, zippers, until the war had ended – but oh, very neat.” Patsy Adam-Smith, VAD nurse.

You know, it would be a Hell of a lot easier to defend Australia if some idiot hadn't lost 2 US carriers.
