In Baltic Sea CW flies Spitfire to cover NAV and Germany flies to 0 box with Hs 123. Allied roll 6 and Axis 3, no naval combat.
Germany searches in North Sea. CW flyes NAV and Hurricane to 0 Box. Sub is trying her luck. Axis roll 10, Allied 1. No luck this time... Overkill with X D 2A

Sorry to go back so far but I just noticed that you're playing with the optional rule for Synthetic oil plants but NOT with oil. Was that intentional?ORIGINAL: Mayhemizer

Yes. Although not playing with oil rules, they are still produce a resource that can be sent to factories for BP's.

Allied are sure that Netherlands is next target as German forces are deployed along Netherlands' border. Something must be done and France is trying to ground strike a stack of 2 armies, field artillery and 2 bombers. France has factor 1 in night mission during snow.
German intercepts with Me109. Even if Allied are not flying day missions, interceptor must choose manually night mission.
Axis roll 10, Allied roll 16. Bomber is cleared through and fighter is aborted. Where does Me109 want to land?

RE: AllenK vs Mayhemizer AAR
I find this AAR the most interesting to follow than the others. I've been playing WiF for a dozen plus years (face to face and cons...both in Michigan as well as Germany).
Curious about a couple things in this early game: The French LND3 and pilot build (are land units built out?), and has the Axis player taken all of Denmark yet? (seems to be too much CW activity there).

Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

Thank you for your interest. France is not out of land units, but I decided to build bomber and pilot now so that they would be in use as action begins. 3 MIL and MOT is left + annual additions. CW has promised to keep on sending help... I hope France will last longer than average, USSR needs all possible help after the first turn failure.
CW units in Denmark was done to me in my last game, I just want to pass on that nasty problem forward. I also would like to warn everyone, that days of weird decisions are not over, Allied can do anything that pops in their mind

Concerning Denmark...I as the German player start with a 5 or 4 mover on the Danish border so I can run into the northern port. Then the only problem is what ever the French were able to get into the Baltic.
Would you consider saving BP's in N/D '39 to use them in J/F'40?
Thanks

Saving BP is a good idea but comes a little bit too late. Next game I know what to do
French cruisers sailed to the Baltic Sea during first allied impulse. And even if you bring 4 mover div to northern port, adjacent hex is controlled by CW and they can bring land units (no zoc) and attack immediately. That happened to me before.

Germany could use a 5 move motorized corps occupy Frederikshavn (if such a corps is selected during set up) and that should make things more difficult for CW in Northern Denmark.

True. For now on I will not take Denmark as Axis player before I can secure it.

RE: AllenK vs Mayhemizer AAR
In previous starts I have been able to take Denmark with the two Inf Divs. The 3 mover to Copenhagen and the 4 mover to Frederikshavn. I used the same setup but hadn't factored in the change in weather.ORIGINAL: Orm

I could have delayed but wanted to secure Copenhagen. I'm not convinced it's a bad thing for me their being sat there. It's 3 units I know exactly what they are doing. The CW at the moment have 1 less unit in France than expected and are just starting to reinforce Egypt. The Far East is pretty bare. All areas likely to be hotting up in the not too distant future.
RE: AllenK vs Mayhemizer AAR
Playing with Amphibious rules, only an HQ or an Inf class Div would be able to disembark into a non-port hex. That would limit the attack strength although no doubt the Home Fleet might chip in their penny's worth.ORIGINAL: Mayhemizer

RE: AllenK vs Mayhemizer AAR
I play the Germans conservatively (no activity on the western front in 1939), and the CW aggressively. Thus for the Germans I send a MECH or ARM to Frederkishavn, or use 3 divisions to take every coastal hex. The CW can easily dispatch a division or gun unit sitting in Frederikshavn by itself.
