2d distance calculator

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

2d distance calculator

Post by 82charlie »

Is it possible to get some sort of 2d distance calculator on the aircraft loadout screen? What I have in mind is a field to enter target hex x,y coordinate to get distance to it from the current aircraft base. With that information it would be a lot easier to pick my loadout based on the distance. I know that you have range rings, but for me it is too time consuming to be going back and forth. Thanks

There is already a RNG (TO STAGING BASE) column embedded in the AD Screen. Why is there no RNG TO TARGET column ?

Right let's try and answer these one at a time. I add the proviso that Pavel may correct my comments as he really knows the detail.

- The adding of a range to tgt distance would be almost impossible I believe. As I understand the system, in most ADs there are more than one target. For example in an Interdiction AD each hex is a separate target. The system automatically assigns air groups in the most efficient manner as the air turn plays through so targets change dynamically for the air groups. This is why the AD creation system provides no fly info.

- As part of the Torch expansion Pavel has revamped the F10 mode. In this mode you can filter air groups and see the range circles. Here's a sneak preview:

There's no official release date, but I can say we're trying to get it finished so it can be released early Fall 2015. We have 10 of the 11 scenarios in beta testing now, and have just a few more items left to be done.

As an expansion, will the new air functionality (is that an English word?) be automatically added to the standard game?
