"Ongoing bonus while repairing advanced tech" working for anyone?

Just wondering, does anybody have an example game where the research bonus from repairing abandoned advanced technology ships actually works? I've made a bug report long ago because this bonus does not work for me and before bumping it would like to find out if perhaps the bonus works for anybody at all.

When I have checked, it does work. Keep in mind that the bonus received from "weak" pirate ships may small when received in tech 2-3 tiers into the tree.

They are significant for the basic techs, but not so much for the more advanced ones.

Is the effect based on ship size? Could you perhaps post a screenshot of your research window in a game where this works?

Not ship size, but rather how advanced they are. Pirates, for instance, start lagging behind in tech, so a puny pirate escort may not help much when you are way more advanced.
