Question for the modders

Post by DOCUP »

Do you all use some type of program for transferring data from one mod/scenario to another?

Depends on what you want to do. You can extract both scenarios to Excel files, then copy and paste from one spreadsheet to another.

If you want to start a new mod, you can start with the scenario closest to what you want, open it in the editor, then save it to another scenario slot.

Bill

I have started with close to what I want. Other mods have ship classes or something that I want to place in mine. I was hoping that there was an easier way than typing in the data. I have asked for permission of all the mod creators to use their mods. Thanks for the quick reply.

Be prepared for great disappointment. The Editor is wonderful but you just about have to do everything by hand. It has taken me years to go through the Editor and learn the ins and outs. I like it but it is tedious and time consuming.

John (JWE/Symon) and Juan have been able to help export and import large blocks of data but I do not know how they do it.

Thanks John. I figured that I would be doing it by hand. This is the first game I have ever thought about messing around with the editor. The Developers did the editor right and made it very user friendly. I should also say the did the game right too.

Hi DOCUP. Yes, you can go from one to another. You will need a little DOS and a little .xlsx. Not hard, but there's some grits in the road. If you want to know how to do it, send a PM. We have been doing this for years, and know where the snakes are. Ciao. JWE
