Download is a RAR file?

I just downloaded the file from the Matrix site and it is a RAR file.
Is this correct? How do I install it?

Are you running Windows? A number of downloadable tools will unpack RAR files. 7zip is free, at http://www.7-zip.org.

If you're running some other OS, then I don't know.

We have answered Suul on the helpdesk, but for anyone still having the issue, .rar files are a different form of compression than .zip files, so with the multiformat master of BASPM it is provided as a .rar file as the compression is better. There are a few options available. First, if you only need the PC installer, we have this available as a .zip file so contact support if you want the .zip file instead.

Alternatively, I tend to use 7zip these days, which is an open source archiving program. It will open .zip, .rar, .7z and many other file types, so if you wanted to try this then Nikolai has provided the link to their site. As it is open source, it is a completely free program, so if you want to try this you can.
