Mysterious 334th Heavy Flak

Post by LiquidSky »

When I hover my cursor over Messina, right at the top is the mysterious 334th Heavy Flak Battalion.

When I enter the city via the Top Right corner clicking the city name...under UNITS ATTACHED: No 334th.

Being a clever lad, I enter the CR and view only AA units. I sort by name. No 334th.

I sort by HHQ and look under C:Messina. No 334th.

Spooky.

If you want to take a look, it is on the server, in my game (LiquidSky vrs DicedT), soon to be a major motion picture.

Actually, you may have to hurry...its turn 16, and I may have to give Messina up for the greater good of the rest of Italy.

EDIT: A few turns back, (Turn 6/7) I disbanded all the German Flak I could find on Sicily. Its not on the list of disbanded units in the dead pile either.

It starts the scenario in Palermo. In your current game it lists out as having a delay of 989, meaning it has been removed from the game. It does show that it is in Messina (but with the delay, it's not really on the map). I don't see it in the destroyed list, but that would have been my guess. Did you move the unit?

Yes...I would have moved it to Messina...along with a lot of other Flak. And then I would have disbanded it along with the other German Flak in Messina. So it is probably the right location for the unit...just wondering why it shows up on the tool tip pop up when I probably disbanded it.

It shouldn't display units that have a delay. I just loaded a campaign and disbanded a unit and it was wiped out in the database, not just given a delay. So I doubt it was just disbanded. Also, if it was disbanded it should have listed in the lost units list. I think something else happened, just not sure what.

Well..to give some order to things.

Turn 1, I moved all the heavy/mixed flak on Sicily to Messina. Since it was in Palermo...it would have been moved to Messina.

Turn 6/7 I disbanded all the German Flak on Sicily leaving the Italian flak alone. If it was clickable and in Messina, I would have disbanded it.

SOMETIME LATER. Around turn 10, I noticed it was in the pop up as being in the city. Didn't fuss too much about it as Messina wasn't going to fall anytime soon, and I had other things to do with my admin points.

Last turn I investigated to see where the unit was, only to see nothing that says the unit exists..except that pop up.

So either the unit was lost in the move to Messina....or lost sitting in Messina when it got crowded with 20 some odd flak units. Or lost in the disband. I can't say for sure since I wasn't paying attention to the details. It's not something I am going to lose any sleep over [;)] and I haven't noticed any other units going missing...although I am filling up the Ruhr with Flak
