The Kaga and company got spotted coming out of Tokyo last turn, and the Deathstar moved north to threaten her.
Japan lost 100 planes total to the Allies 40 yesterday. Roughly.
Still hunting the Anzio with subs...
KB getting closer, Guam can't support all those planes, Saipan can. Runways pristine, repair shops damaged.
All midget subs sunk. 13 midget subs fired a total of twice.

Anzio -- strike that, I think the Anzio is two hexes east of Rota, so no clue what the other CV is on the east edge.

Can you provide some more intel on the Allied Deathstar? I´m not really sure why your opponent is so aggressive. As I said before looking at other AARs the KB usually ends up victorious this early in the game. But your opponent seems to play like an allied victory is a sure thing. I don´t get that. He seems to be itching for a CV fight when he should play defensive and make sure he troops get ashore and stay there.
By moving north he can no longer provide cover for his landings and he burns fuel which might cost him a turn to refuel at some point.

Allies need to keep pushing forward. No reason to go pick an unnecessary battles like this. Especially with something as important as the Marianas invasion. Better off letting the KB come to you if you're worried about a KB attack.
Honestly this whole invasion seems sort of half-baked to me. I thought so when the Anzio got hit with only 10 planes on CAP. Allies have only real base and its a small one. Runways are clear still and surprise is gone. Tinian or another base better fall in the next 4 or 5 days or Allies have some serious problems. I am predicting Japanese victory.

He's clearly launched it early after the KB was spotted in the Andamans.

Hold on. I don't understand. Is the Kaga with the KB or is the KB somewhere else? If you're protecting info for OPSEC I understand, but this is really confusing.
His move North is crazy right now! An Allied invasion should be in and out quickly. Two days max, then gone. This is asking for it and the KB should be within a days move to get there just in case of something like this.
If you're prepared you'll be able to punish any mistake or half-assed move, and especially this one!
A few more things. The Judy strike is telling. If you can get through, you need to pile on everything possible now. High strikes with 2E TB possibly, low strikes with Jakes and 1E TBs plus some 2E IJAAF bombers, then the real strikes it the sweet zone in the middle altitudes once the CAP is spread out all over the place. If he has more than range 0 CAP that seems to be bleeding then sweep that base, bomb it, get the CAP directed everywhere but over his fleets.
This is a great opportunity. Don't hold back! You've got nothing to lose and a LOT to gain. [:)]

KB was in drydock getting a torpedo damage fixed. She still has 2 major damage, but she left with Cl/DD and was spotted south of Tokyo...so I think the Allies thought it was the KB and moved the deathstar north.

KB will be at Legsapi this day, all except for Kaga which is steaming to that area.
Lots of naval, port, airfield strikes and sweeps by Tony and George over Rota. I don't see how Tinian can hold for much longer, maybe a few days max depending upon how aggressive the Allies are.

It was a deathstar at the beginning of the operation...but it has worn down some. If he sticks around, all my pilots will be fresh, his will have been fighting for a while and degraded.
I have no clue what he will do, best guess is he will concentrate everything at Rota and move deathstar south to join/cover. He has oilers, etc...so I am hitting the port at Rota too. I am hoping the sweeps can really nail the air cover more. I should have 800 planes in the air over the Marianas this turn, more waiting in the wings.
I am fearful of overloading the airbases too much for fear of a devastating naval bombardment.

Other big news, is the first attack at Chungking will take place. I believe I have timed it correctly for the 3 shock attacks across the river to close off those three hexsides, along with a full deliberate attack by everything in Chungking.
I suspect it will be really bloody.

Toko Rockets advance to 5/45. Production looks to start around 6/44 if I can make it that far.
The D5Y1 Myojo advances to Jan 44 tomorrow. I had hoped to use this plane in the defense of the Marianas. If we are still fighting here in a month, I probably will be able to. Yes, I realize it is slow, but it does pack a punch and I am ways off from the final generation Judy.

So it's about a two day run into the strike zone for the Southern Marianas from Legaspi. I'd let Kaga meet halfway there, or closer, since she's slow.

If you feel like Tinian is reeling is there anything that can be flown in to shore it up at least until the naval/air battles are more decided and you can see if he is able to hold superiority in the area? I think IIRC both Tinian and Saipan held out for over a month against massive Allied armies in my game with Jocke. The CD guns can really help if he didn't land enough supply there and needs to go back in.

I fear you are asking for trouble with these settings. Better to put everything else in reserve and let the units suicide-shock across the river, IMO. You are risking the loss of units not involved in the river crossing to the river shock attack. I had several artillery units die because, even though they were set to defend orders, I had units shocking across rivers to close those hex sides....and they were killed in counter bombardment, I think. Again, the units of mine that died were set to defend - not bombard.
And so, your settings make me nervous.

I also question the river attacks. Why are you worried about those hex sides? You could break a division into 3 parts and have the other 2 divisions in the main on the proper side of the river.
Just having units in the adjacent hex(s) should prevent him from retreating through that side.
