Game pace has slowed to a crawl and/or stop as RL has affected Cribtop's ability to continue on. Discussions ongoing.

Glad to see this is still on.

I had though both of Cribtop's BTS games had ended early.

Thankfully, this one will continue on. [:)] Hopefully, about a turn per day as RL will effect both of us.

Thanks for your diligence in finding bugs/errors in BTS. [&o]

I now have a 'tentative agreement' with J3 to play a PBEM using the non-Yamato Class BB version shortly. We truly need a full game of BTS to see if various tweaks and changes are playable.

Forgot to mention that both the 407 & 408 BG that just arrived are headed for Eastern USA and eventually India (need PP). So after their re-sizing in August, I hope to have 96 x 4e bombers (12 x 8) in theater. The B-17Ds that start the war in Philippines are there now training up, but withdraw in October.

Since I didn't have a turn in my inbox awaiting me and my morning coffee, I made a list of American LCUs I keep track of through '42 and many beyond. One of them is the "Cmbt Eng" as there are very few of them in '42 and I'm already planning limited invasions. There are 4 battalions and 3 regiments.

Cmbt Eng:
102 Cmbt Eng Rgt - Luganville (may need to be changed)
110 Cmbt Eng Bn - Vava'u (may need new address)
134 Cmbt Eng Bn - Tarawa
151 Cmbt Eng Bn - Kodiak (may need to head south)
34 Cmbt Eng Rgt - Tarawa
802 Cmbt Eng Bn - Tabiteua
131 Cmbt Eng Rgt - 10 Oct '42

** Looks like the 102 needs to start prepping for Tabiteuea.

Construction Rgt:
42 Constr Rgt - Dora Harbor
43 Constr Rgt - Noumea
46 Constr Rgt - Noumea
47 Constr Rgt - Christmas
176 Constr Rgt - 16 Jun '42
45 Constr Rgt - 23 Jul '42
91 Constr Rgt - 6 Aug '42
353 Constr Rgt - 15 Aug '42
177 Constr Rgt - 5 Sep '42
331 Constr Rgt - 30 Sep '42

Considering that each contains 85 total engineers (engineers plus vehicles), they can greatly increase base building rates wherever they end up. So, they are kept track of.

Armor:
1 USMC - 19 May '42
2 USMC - Tabiteua
3 USMC - 16 Sep '42
193 Tk - Tarawa
754 Tk - Cairns (maybe someplace else?)
762 Tk - 23 Apr '42
763 Tk - 23 Apr '42
632 TD - 11 May '42
637 TD - 25 May '42
627 TD - 26 Jun '42
640 TD - 4 Sep '42

Not many to use in '42, so I'll have to divide them up for my Gilbert invasions.

Hope this information helps other Allied players. [:)]

I got this unexpected message in my inbox this morning. [X(] [:(]
Michael,

Spent the last two days looking over my position and it’s a mess. Much of the cause is the rushed play I mentioned in my e-mail to you and John (lots of ships stashed in places they don’t belong, lack of focus on the economy and the stuff I’ll need for my next moves, etc). Of course, a lot of it is just poor play by me and good play by you. In any case, while my strategy is to R&D the good airframes in the mod and try to hold a compact initial perimeter as long as possible, I can see it’s really too late for this to come off as I am now well behind even the very generous timetable I set for myself. I think the smartest thing for me to do is to concede this game, get past this rough patch at work, and then look honestly at whether I have the time to play AE at all (I fear the answer, at least in the short to medium term, is that I don’t except for scenarios). My experiment of trying to take on two games in an effort to force myself to increase turn flow was nothing short of disastrous, and I sincerely apologize. I know I let you and John down and it really bums me out to have done that.

Well played, I wave the white flag.

Dwain

I have just posted in "Opponent Wanted" section for a replacement player. I don't want to start another game from Dec 7th if I can help it.

Game Status - Looks like I'm changing from a 1x1 game to a 2x1 game. Japan will now be OneEyedJack (Mike) and Rysyonok (Vlad). They are still getting organized, but I hope to get a turn or two done this weekend. Mike was my first PBEM opponent in WITP when we played Iron Storm, but my computer kept crashing when running WITP, so it ended too soon. Vlad has been on Matrix forums for 10 years, but I don't know him as well. Hope for some fireworks.

OT - Once the new BTS 'lite' comes out within the next week, I'll be starting a new PBEM vs John 3rd. We've become very good friends since his epic game vs Canoerebel back in old WITP days when he needed help with Japan's economy (almost crashed it in '43). Thanks to Tracker and Damain's assistance, he was able to carry on.

AE is a such a time consuming beast... You have to really find the right PBEM partner for you : I am a lax player, I like to play my turns quickly because otherwise I won't play them. If I were to play PBEM, I would have to find a similarly lackadaisical, unoptimizing, somewhat roleplaying partner. Against an optimizer not only would I get crushed but the fun wouldn't be there for me.

Glad to see the game will continue. Very annoying when you invest a year or more of playing time only to have RL cause gaming interruptus!

Glad you found new guys to step in. Too bad Dwain had stuff get in the way. Would have loved to see that match-up played out. As it is you have some experience on the other side still so it should be a fun one![:)]

Well, I'm sure it's daunting to know what someone else was doing. Im sure you've made it clear you want a consistent pace, so I bet after turns 1-2 it'l pick up.

No big hurry as the Allied "Death Star" is under going the big 4/42 upgrades at Pearl and will be out of action until mid-May. Just logistics and base building going on. Just need to harass Mike (was my first PBEM opponent many, many years ago). [:D]

Last Combat Replay (April 17th) by Cribtop is in the books. There was only daily bombing of Manila. Now, to see what my two new Japanese players do differently.

I hope it was only a one time thing, but when loading the replay and then turn, i got this message which I've never seen before - "Link/Zone Data Differs - Continue." If not, I'll seek clarification in Tech Support section.

How do you know the turn isn't already sent to Vlad? Anyhow, it took me almost 5 days I think to get the first turn around when I picked up a dropped game, and I believe after two days working on it I started my AAR. I needed to for a sanity check.[:D]

Team WITP AE really intrigues me, as you can get some IJN vs IJA intrigue! Really looking forward to the continuation of the game.

Good luck, but you are doing great so far.[&o]

I think it would be nice to see a PBEM game pick up a second player for a side sometime about late 42 to early 43 with each playing the same opponent. I would want to see how two different players take their current position to conclusion without knowing what that other player was doing. In your game Lowpe, you had another Japanese player start when you did vs same Allied player and see what happened.

You mean like "splitting" a game? Say 2 players start and play up to say 1/43 and then a second pair of players take up the same save and both pairs play from the same game but parallel of each other?
