I don't understand your opponent splitting up his CVs with some at Rota and the rest up in northern Marianas. [&:] Like Jocke stated, I would get KB to hit one or the other hard along with heavy LBA attacks.

That is the basic plan...[:)] Of course, I am a half is glass empty kind of guy and pretty darn scared right now that a signint failure has given me away.

But if everything works right, I will use the Allies extreme aggressiveness against him.

A dark and stormy night in the Marianas...was any clue given to the Allies that this might be the day?

Night search spots ships west and east of the Marianas.

Judy makes a night run, and misses. But there are now two squadrons on night CAP. What joy...especially if that is the deathstar to the east.

The storms are present, rolling, thundering squalls. Totally unpredictable. What will the morning bring?

Moving into approach position...wakes spotted, evasive action, and then Clang, a hit but no explosion!

Argh, thunderstorms over the main target, but what is fleet to the northeast?

The Kaga escapes, one destroyer damaged, and the search planes are flying....

Argh, KB is serious storms...sweeps go into Rota and whittle down the CAP fifty percent to less than 50 planes.

Allies strike at the Kaga...CAP up to the job so far...no hits.

Two sentai of Judy fly in unescorted...they fight their way thru the CAP...

Two hits...most planes lost.

Instead of making an attack on the CVEs in the afternoon, the KB fragments and attacks 4 different destroyer groups all around.

They are savaged, but still...something bad happened.[&:]

She suffered 5 hits from the destroyers...

She suffered all the aerial attacks....

Bah, weather sucks sometimes...will be interesting to see what your opponent does. Going by his usual MO he will probably rush head first straight into the fray.

His CAP capabilities took a big hit here. 55 Wildcats and 33 Hellcats... Can you cycle in some more LBA and pressure him? If so, his ability to stick around could fall apart. And it could make for an opportunity for KB...
