button lights for readiness, ammo and morale

Post by Jagger2002 »

My suggestion is that it would be helpful to put three small status buttons in a column on the left side of each unit counter on map which would represent readiness, ammo and morale levels. The three small light buttons would change color from green to yellow to red representing good to OK to dangerously low levels of readiness, ammo and morale.

The status of readiness, ammo and morale are clearly very important. The information is available but not easily accessible. To get the information, each unit must be individually selected on map and then the information read on the right from each unit panel. It is much quicker and easier to visually scan the map for unit button colors than to access each unit individually and then examine the unit panels. If you spot a red color, you would instantly know you have a unit which needs immediate attention. If the yellow is set to a low enough level, you would know to prepare for corrective action.

The button lights would not need to be large. Just enough to spot the colors. I think it would make the game more user friendly.

Jagger2002, there have been a few ideas thrown around for this in the wish list. Buttons on the counter may be tough since space is already pretty packed and there is no control on counter background colors to some buttons would "vanish" on certain counters. There has been talk of using an overlay, having a separate OB tab for red level units (and I guess yellow too), counter outlines, and I'm sure I'm missing a few others. It is an area of importance and we will need to do something to help visualize that information better in 2.1.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
