Looking for New Scenarios?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Looking for New Scenarios?

Post by kool_kat »

Gents: [8D]

I've developed new Flashpoint Campaigns - Red Storm scenarios! [:)]

First Contact

Best Played as: NATO vs AI

Scenario Size: Small

Date: 23 July 1989

Time: 0300 + 4

Weather: Clear, Max Visibility

In summer 1989, the balloon went up. Warsaw Pac forces hit NATO hard along a broad front. Over several days, NATO was hammered and the thin defensive line cracked. Near Scheebel, the "egg" was split wide open. Enemy mech units surged through and raced to secure crossings on the Rehrbach and Wumme rivers and the vital crossroads that led east. NATO rushed forward what formations were available in an attempt to stem the red tide. There was not much available. NATO scraped together elements of the 2nd Arrmored Cav to form a hasty defense on the east banks of the Rehrbach and Wumme rivers. Orders were to "hold and await reinforcements." In the pre-dawn darkness of July 23, 1989, "first contact" was made between the American cav troops and the 12th Guards Tank Regiment.

Iron Horse

Best Played as: NATO vs AI

Scenario Size: Medium

Date: 24 July 1989

Time: 0400 + 5

Weather: Clear, Max Visibility

The 4th Infantry, known as "Iron Horse," were ordered to advance into Lauterbach to hold the bridges over the Maar River and crossroads along the N254 autoban. Unknown Warsaw Pac forces were rapidly advancing west. Near Lauerbach, these forces collided together. Would the "Iron Horse" have the "metal" to withstand the Soviets?

Recommended Optional Rules C, D, and E.

All my scenarios may be downloaded from the OTS Website HERE.

Many thanks to Bryan for helping to playtest my designs! [:)]

Added my other two scenarios to the OTS Website! [:)]

Guardsmen

Best Played as: NATO vs AI

Scenario Size: Medium

Date: 25 July 1989

Time: 0400 + 4

Weather: Clear, Max Visibility

After hostilities broke out, Army National Guard units were called up and deployed overseas to Germany. One of the first to arrive on the battlefront was the 1st Battalion / 148th Infantry Regiment of the Ohio Army National Guard. The Guardsmen were hustled up to the front lines and than assigned to a quiet sector on the Wumme River. There the unit waited three days for additional orders. It was the classic "hurry up and wait" syndrome. But in the early morning hours of July 25, the waiting period ended. Soviet long range recon units were probing for crossing points along the Wumme River and the Ohio National Guard was in their way. The unit's motto was "We''ll do it", but it was not clear if the Guardsmen would be able to live up to that motto today!

Recommended Optional Rules C, D, and E.

A Deadly Meet

Best Played as: NATO vs AI

Scenario Size: Small

Date: 26 July 1989

Time: 0800 + 5

Weather: Heavy Precipitation

The day started off bad for Team Charlie. Weather forecast was for heavy rain and since dawn it had not stopped. But not only was the weather lousy, but their orders were too. Cover the approaches to the Richerbach River from the enemy who was advancing from the east. Lots to cover and too few units to do it! Hopefully both the weather and Team Charlie's fortunes would improve as the morning brightened.

Recommended Optional Rules C, D, and E.

Gents: [8D]

Based on player feedback, I've updated my scenarios with additional information (Scenario Description) and in the case of "Guardsmen" I have clarified the mission (Player Mission Briefing).

These files may be identified with a "V2" in the file description.

Recommend that you replace / update any downloaded files with the V2 versions.

Enjoy! [:)]

Great to have new stuff to play! This is how my first run in First Contact ended:

Image

The reinforcements on Sotheler Bach spawned right on top of the enemy which was maybe a bit unrealistic but otherwise it was a fun and fast scenario to play. :)

What do you think is the PBEM suitability of these ones?

My scenarios were not play tested for H2H, but I do not see why you could not give it a go? [&:]

However, if you attempt H2H, please note that your WP setup will be more restrictive than NATO's.
