Unavailable Slots

So many slots are unavailable...why? I mean, maybe historical reasons but this is a game after all -- most scenarios seem to have like around ***half*** the slots unavailable!!!!!

Anyway to "fix" this, please, short of using the Editor to create my own battles? Thanks.

From the "Play Game" option on the Title screen, select "Mission Settings". The set the sides as needed. Recruit will give you more troops, and more slots filled, while Elite will do just the opposite.

Ah, okay, good to know; thought the AI would be better or something -- thanks for the tip (yes, I see it now in the game manual as well!)....

As a side note, the limited number of slots represents different sized battle groups. Some of the battle groups in Gateway to Caen are regiment-sized, some are battalion-sized. So not every battle is between equal sized forces.

The new version is under development. It is tentatively named "The Bloody First" and will follow the US 1st Infantry Division through several campaigns.
