Four pages of responses. Way too much for me to read.

So, since I didn't read ANYONE's response, I'm just gonna throw my opinion out there. I'm sure NO ONE has mentioned Steel Panthers.[;)]

I'm certain I'm the only one here who remembers that game.

So, yeah, Steel Panthers...[:D]

What is this "Steel Panthers" you speak of????[8|]

Steel Panthers for many of us is the reason we came to Matrix Games... And many of us have stayed around hoping for an upgraded version. Long Live Steel Panthers!

Although I don't have much experience with Harpoon, I'm betting that CMANO is what you are looking for, and it's available right now!

You run out of how many ways people can say "Steel Panthers"?

No.

But I do, fondly, remember Kampfgruppe.

You mean that one where you could stack all the units into ONE hex? [:'(]

I remember that was the first game I edited or made a scenario of the ZULU from the Zulu Dawn movie. I didn't do much editing or trying to make scenarios after that. Too much stuff to do.

Did you get Battlegroup also? I liked it better than Kampfgruppe because they fixed the stacking and Grant tanks were kewl.[:'(]

Now, the $64 question. What was the last Steelpantherslike game before they made Steel Panthers II and III?

Uh uh aahhh....no cheating.....no peeking at google or any other search function. Hey stay away from GamersGeek too. [:'(]

so it is very clear that Steel Panthers is the game people want remade - has there been any word from Matrix Games on their position on this?

or is it the Shrapnel Games versions of Steel Panthers are the only remakes we will ever see?

what about Steel Panthers 3 - i kind of liked that one the most because of its scale and that it covered all the 20th century

Thanks for the suggestion of CMNAO as a replacement for Harpoon. This will be a consideration for purchase after the summer has passed.

A game that was truly fun on the Commodore 64 wa one titled Mech Brigade. Steel Panthers seemed to carry on that gameplay with yet even more variety of forces and flexibility. My only gripe has come to be turn based gameplay. Today I prefer RTS.
