Thinking of buying it

From the first clash at Manassas to the epic confrontation between Lee and Grant, the Brother Against Brother series will bring new levels of historical detail and realism to the battles of the Civil War. This regimental-level game, created by the developers of the award-winning Forge of Freedom, builds on that game’s acclaimed tactical engine, adding scrupulously researched orders of battle, high-quality map graphics, command and control rules reflecting the numerous challenges faced by army commanders, and plenty other features. Beginning with The Drawing of The Sword – which recreates the pivotal opening battles at Manassas , Wilson ’s Creek, Mill Springs and Williamsburg – Brother Against Brother lets you refight the Civil War from start to finish.

Thinking of buying it

Post by LuckyJim1010 »

Just started to watch one of the Vids on YouTube and have to say had to stop watching after 5 minutes because of that rain sound.
Please tell me you can disable that sound while leaving other sounds on!
Not a purchase breaker but still...

Hi Jim,

That's being fixed in the first update, due out as a public beta later today.

For what it's worth, LuckyJim, I got used to the rain sound pretty quickly, and as has been said, they will get the fix up soon.

I can heartily recommend getting the game if you have any interest at all in American Civil War battles, or even a simulation of mid-19th century warfare. IMHO, this game gives the best "feeling" of commanding a Civil War-era army that I've seen yet, and I've been wargaming since the early 1980's.

Well, given the heading of this post, I think I'll append my uncertainty here too, rather than make a new thread.

I had decided not to buy this game based on my experience with WCS games in the past as I find their interfaces and graphics clunky and dated - of course, your mileage may differ here. I always felt there were potentially great games tangled up in there somewhere, but you can't play a potential game, only the actual one.

Perhaps someone who likes this game and wanted to love the previous ones, but didn't, can let me know their experiences?

Okay just bought it [:)]
But I have to say was someone high when they added the Rain graphic and sound.
What is wrong with a small pop-up at the bottom of the screen displaying current weather
As it is it makes me think the game is glitching.
Don't think I have ever seen a wargame use such a dramatic weather display.
