Info feedback on your assets

Post by wobbly »

A thought about combat reports and what it is your ships and planes have been up to.

I bring this up for 2 reasons.

1. It is sometimes difficult to know what your ships or planes did last turn - why are they so fatigued etc? Nothing visible appeared to happen?

2. You wouldn't need to put such things as "X ship hits Y type mine, or TF reacts away from AC TF on the main combat report. This may stop specific info being sent to both sides.

What I envisage is each squadron and each TF (or ship within a TF maybe - could be too much overhead) has a succinct appraisal of what it did last turn. Some examples:

Ship (or TF) - unloaded troops at hex 25,25
surface combat against enemy TF 23
attacked by air
hit mine at hex 34,21

Aircraft Squad- Weather restricts flying
Aborted Naval attack - high CAP

These reports could be quite varied obviously, and therefore require alot of coding. However, it appears to me the cause and effects are actually happening, it would require that the effects also triggered a report.

The idea is to kill two birds with one stone - restriction of info that the enemy shouldn't know, and the increase of info as to why your troops are doing the things they are.
