CW use their three surprise points to target Scharnhorst but the ship survives the massive bombardment from the Allied battleships.

What is more surprising is that the cruiser Emden survive her punishment as well. [X(]

Four German ships damaged in this epic battle for control of the High Seas.

Somehow I fumbled the picture of the result against the Allied fleet. [:(]

One French and one British battleship was damaged.

Edit: I managed to find the picture. [:)]

Since My Lord Warspite is still away I decide to abort the German Fleet. To many damaged German ships remain for my comfort.

The Germans try some ground striking of hexes in Belgium. Orm I would ask you to open up your last save game and go through this as there are too many aircraft - and thus options available - for me to list.

The hexes targeted are as follows:

Brussels: 2-quality Hs123 and 5-quality Stuka
Antwerp: 5-quality Stuka
Hex west of Brussels: 6-quality Stuka

No escorts at this stage.

The Japanese try ground striking Chiang with a 2-strength bomber. They bring in no escorts, but can reach with three fighters. Do you want to intercept?

1) The Belgian fighter fly to Antwerp. If it survive it lands East of London.
2) The Spitfire I (West of Brussels) intercept the attack on the same hex. If it survives it lands East of London unless the Belgians landed there. If so it lands in Dover.

Tally-ho - the Chinese pilots scream when they go after the Japanese bomber.

The first air battle of the Western Front is that between the Belgian Air Force CR.42 and a Luftwaffe Me-109. The Germans have a +1/-1 advantage. The Allies throw first.

9 (AC) - The Stuka is cleared through
15 (AA) - The Belgian fighter aborts. Damn as soon as I saw 15 I thought that was a kill....

The next battle is west of Brussels. The odds here are +1/0 and again the Allies throw first.

5 (DX) - The Germans choose the Me-109 to be shot down (the pilot survives)
6 (DX) - The Spitfire is destroyed (the pilot survives)

That was bloody....

In China I only have two aircraft - not the three I thought as one is out of supply until the HQ moves [8|]

This gives a +1/-1 advantage to the Japanese. The Allies to throw first.

8 (-) - No Effect
10 (DC) - Essentially No Effect

Round 2

16 (AA) - The Chinese choose which aircraft to abort - and will no doubt choose the bomber.
8 (DA) - The Chinese fighter aborts.

Well that was rubbish.

To the ground strikes themselves:

The first strike - the least important of the three - results in disorganisation of both Allied units. However it is the other two I need results on!

Next to the hex west of Brussels with my best bomber. I was totally confident of success ahead of my throws given the 6-factor, but the reverse was true...

Finally to the capital itself. The Henschels are heading for the scrap yard, but this Stuka did the businees.

Two attacks announced - one in China and one in Belgium.

The attack against Brussels is 39:12 for 3:1 do the CW wish to bring in HQ Support for Gort?

I will bring in no aircraft. You can bring in one fighter - I can respond with six. Both best fighter are 5-quality - with any bombers you wish to bring in.

I believe the attack in China is also 3:1 Do you wish to use Chiang's HQ Support?

No fighter support? Either a) you are looking for the historical outcome for the poor Battle pilots or b) you are trusting to my ability to roll crap dice or c) you made a mistake (I thought I best check).
