Jan/Feb 1941. Axis #7. The Eastern Med. NED TRS Abort.

While the Australian militia corps from Sydney is welcomed in Egypt the NEI transport carrying them isn't. If fact, the transport was not welcomed in a lot of ports. This is where the form on the left, and which is brought up by the F11 key, was invaluable. NEI was allowed in Syria.

Jan/Feb 1941. Axis #7. The Eastern Med. Italian Reorg.

The Italians use their two empty transports in the Eastern Med to reorganize the Italian naval bomber unit. These transports were there in the East Med only because they were successfully intercept and forced to stop there by the RN.

Jan/Feb 1941. Axis #7. China. Japanese Strategic Bombing of Chungking, China.

The Japanese carry out their third strategic bombing raid this turn. Unlike the previous two this raid is contested by the Chinese fighter, which is blown out of the sky by the escorting Japanese fighters. Unfortunately for the Japanese, this raid failed to do any damage to Chinese production.

Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #9 & Axis 11. Weather.

A mixed bad across the world. But considering it's mid-winter fairly mild for this time of year.

Allied #9. Options.

CW, Free France, USSR and USA take a combined. China takes a land. There's a 30% chance that the turn will end after this impulse.

Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #9. Egypt and Malta

The reason that the CW took a combined was to be able to move two fighters from Liverpool and deploy them to Malta via the naval transport and air rebase phases. And, and this is where the combine comes in, to also be able to disembark the artillery and infantry divisions to Egypt.

There's also a Belgium fighter on patrol in the West Med (not shown) in the 0 box, which will land in Malta at the end of this turn (i.e., during the Return to Base phase). These three fighters, which will all be in Malta, are all the land based fighter units that the RAF has.

Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #9. The East Med.

In the East Med the CW declined to initiate combat. No doubt the CW was fearful of what might happened when the Italians or Germans did, but neither were given the option to do so. What a nice surprise for the RN. By the way, all this transpired before the two RAF fighters had be rebased to Malta. At this time there were still on transports in the Western Med. So if the axis had been able to successfully initiate combat, the two ground based RAF fighter units would not have been able to participate.

Jan/Feb 1941. US Entry Options.

This turn ended after the allied impulse on a roll of 2 against a 30% chance of ending. The US chose another chit for the Japanese entry pool and select option 31, "Oil Embargo" against Japan. Now its a waiting game for the US until they get the required levels to select option 34(17), "Pass War Appropriations Bill." The US has enough tension in both pools but needs 5 more entry points in the Germany/Italian pool and 3 more points in the Japanese pool. Realistically the US should be able to choose this option in 2 more turns.

Jan/Feb 1941. German Mobilization from West to East.

German mobilization from France to Eastern Europe continues. With a stalemate in Greece that may be hard to break and the Italians apparently being check in Egypt, the OKW is rethinking their intent to push for a delay to the start of Barbarossa. A pitch that they know the Fuhrer will be furious, if not enraged over. So OKW is now focused on over the next 2 turns (i.e., 4 months) to get troops and planes into Poland and the Balkans in sufficient number in order to break the pact with the Soviets. It's with the Soviets where this war will be won or lost.

Jan/Feb 1941. The Balkans.

Italy has successfully liberate Bulgaria from the clutches of the CW. At least Italy in Hitler's view has finally done something right in this war.

No partisans this turn, but here are the partisan numbers and probabilities for those countries in which there's a chance for partisans.

Jan/Feb 1941. Country Economic Reports.

Japan's production reduced from 84% of capacity last turn to 68% this turn from the effect of the US oil embargo passed by the US congress this turn. Also, now the only source of oil income for the Japan is the 1 point from their synth oil plant. US sanctions are starting to hurt Japan.

It might be wise to give more resources to Italy instead of saving so much oil. Italy need to produce for more than 6 in order to be of assistance to Germany and an annoyance to the Allies.

Jan/Feb 1941. USN. Hawaii Islands and Midway.

In addition to the oil embargo and economic sanctions imposed by the US on Japan, the US is increasing its presence in the Pacific by military build ups on Midway and Hawaii to include a build up of the US fleet at Pearl.

It may be time for the Japanese to make their on naval build up at Truk to include carriers, fast cruisers and battleships.

Jan/Feb 1941. China and Korea.

The US oil embargo on Japan also includes an embargo on the two oil resources that were being sent from the Dutch East Indies. Though Japan's military is heavily involved in China and eyeing the US expansion into the Pacific, the Japanese Militarist have also taken notice of the weakening CW position in the Pacific. The CW seems to be pulling more and more RN resources out of the Pacific and into the Med.

Mar/Apr 1941. Country Trade Reports.

The agreements that have changed since the last two month trade report.

Free France is now sending 1 oil point to the CW.

German increased the number of resources it was sending Italy from 4 to 7. It also decrease the amount of oil it was sending from 2 to 1.

The CW and the Dutch East Indies joined with the US in its oil embargo on Japan. As such, they stopped sending two NEI oil points per turn to Japan. The US was also sending two oil points, which it has not stopped. That's a total of 4 oil points per turn lost to Japan due to the US led oil embargo of that country. As mentioned earlier, the only oil income Japan has now is 1 point per turn from their synth oil factory.

The US also increased its commitment to the North America Strategic oil reserve by 1 oil point (i.e., the US increased the oil sent to the CW from 4 to 5 oil points per turn).
