Mar/Apr 1941. German and Soviet Mobilization. Nazi-Soviet Pact

Germany chooses two more markers and adds them to their offensive pool. The USSR chooses one more and adds it to the defensive pool. With supply issues due to weather, disorganization due to railing it makes no sense to give the pact numbers now. I'll provide them next turn when it makes sense.

Mar/Apr 1941. US Entry Pool and Options.

The US chooses to add a chit to the German/Italy Entry pool and gets what they wanted, which is the levels required to choose option 34 (17), "Pass War Appropriations Bill" and that's what they do.

Worth noting is that the US is starting to build up their probability of declaring war on Germany/Italy and Japan. Currently, it's at 30%.

Mar/Apr 1941. Country Economic Reports.

Look at Italy working at 100% capacity! Germany too, but without being able to save any oil. If fact, Germany had to use an oil point to reach 100% capacity. Germany will probably cut back on its trade with Italy so that Germany can remain at 100% of capacity and save an oil point or two per turn. For now, one per turn would be enough.

Look at the US peacetime, war economy! The O-chit built by the US is the first o-chit built by any power this game. My plan is for the US to build at least 1 per turn for now on.

May/Jun 1941. Country Trade Reports.

Changes in trade agreements since last report (Mar/Apr 1941).

Free France cancelled sending 1 oil point to the CW.

Germany decreased the resources it was sending to Italy from 7 to 5. That 5 still includes 1 oil point.

The USA decreased from 5 to 4 the amount of oil it's sending to the North America Strategic Oil Reserve (i.e., oil traded to the CW and saved in Canada).

May/June 1941. Initiative.

First Roll. The axis roll a 3, which is modified by 2, to a 5. The allies roll was 3 and don't have a chance to re-roll. The decision for who moves first goes to the axis and they choose to move first. The hope is that the weather in the Arctic and North Temperate are fine and that the Germans have or can get enough garrison points this turn to break the pact.

Nazi-Soviet Pact.

The Germans aren't even close to being able to break the pact. The question is whether or not they can even get there by the end of this turn.

May/Jun 1941. Axis #1.

Germany, Italy and Japan take a land.

Breaking the Pact.

Germany's main focus this turn is to increase the force level in the East in order to break the pact. The Germans were able to increase forces this impulse to a level that reduce the deficient for breaking the pact from 37.5 at start of the turn to 30 at end of this impulse. Of course this deficient will increase during the Soviet impulse as they will bring more forces forward towards to border. It's an interesting cat and mouse game that Hitler and Stalin are playing at.

May/Jun 1941. Axis #1. China.

A strategic shift in the Japanese strategy for China was made this turn. The decision was made for the Japanese to hold what they have in the south and stop their push against the Nationalist. The Japanese military push in China will now be in the and against the communist. Also, Yamamoto and IJN elite marines units were order backed to the coast for potential amphibious operations sometime in the future.

May/Jun 1941. Axis #1. Japanese Strategic Bombing. Southern China.

Japan will continue in earnest their strategic bombing attacks against Chinese production. Unfortunately for the Japanese this impulse their two strategic bombing raids did no damage to said production.

May/Jun 1941. Axis #1. Land Combat. China[77,138].

Japans land combat attack against a communist Chinese militia army unit defending in the mountains produced mixed results. The Soviet (communist Chinese) player chose to see the attack on the Blitz table in order to maximize the chance that their unit would survive. They were rewarded in that the unit did survive thought it was disorganized and forced to retreat. The Japanese lost no units but half their attacking forces were disorganized.

Why build offensives with the US at this time? An offensive can be build within three turns, where a good navy takes years to build. And if you don't have enough land and air units to use those offensives on, they are worthless anyway...

If you start building offensives in SO 1943 (two each turn), you have those in abundance to use with you other units you've deployed already. You can't use more than one each impulse and two or three used each turn in 1944 and 1945 should be enough to crush the Axis. End of 1944 you build 3 of those each turn...

O.K. then. I'll wait until Sep/Oct 1943 to build any more o-chits for the US and then starting build 2 per turn. Thanks for the advice.

May/Jun 1941. Allied #2.

The CW takes a naval, China a land, USSR, Free France and USA a combined.

CW Convoy Route Adjustments and CP Reserve

The CW uses part of its naval to take care of the business of convoy protection using the strategy described earlier and make adjustments to convoy routes in the Far East to increase CW's reserve of CPs. CW production is at full capacity, is only using 2 of 15 oil resources for production (i.e., currently saving 13 of 15) and has 31 of its 109 CPs in reserve. Of those 31 in reserve 21 are in port and 11 are at sea (which will require return to base and reorganization).
