sluggish gameplay

Post by woodward »

Hi!
I have a LenovoY50 gaming laptop (8gig ram) running w8.1. the gameplay in BaB is extremely sluggish on my machine. If I attempt to zoom the map the game often freezes and sometimes ctd, especially during the combat resolution phase, when sound and mouse feedbak is totally out of sync (combat resolution is extremely slow btw even with combat report disable and the message delay set to a minimum). If I let the music play the songs sometimes enters a loop whilst the whole game freezes during combat resolution.
Its a shame with since I like what I´ve seen of this game, but I cant get around the fact that the performane issues are really game-breaking for me. Any ideas why these issues occure? I have no problem running other matrix games (pike&shot for instance runs smooth).
All the best

...and I should add that I have updated to the latest version with no difference in performance...

whats the spec, as the one i've found is the Y50/70 one and is very high spec tbh, and should walk it on max details, so think there maybe a problem elsewhere...

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Ide ... 215.0.html

i7 4 GB GTX 860M or the 2gb version, either way it would eat the game for breakfast at that spec.

so either a hardware or software issue on the laptop, as game doesn't need such a high spec set up and plays well on a dual core cpu with 4gb of ram and a 1gb video card tbh...

try this for now,

tm.asp?m=3843280

then post a dxr report and zip it to the thread here, so we can read it and see if you have any other errors

this will also help with your card as same make,
tm.asp?m=3747993

and see if it still has a problem, also what's your driver version you are running, dxr report will say and tell when you post it...
How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

good luck

I agree with Zakblood's assessment. I run the game on a Win 8.1 laptop that is inferior to your machine in every way, and I have no problems whatsoever like what you're seeing. So there's something going on besides a performance problem per se. Have you tried running the game in admin and various compatibility modes (with Win7 or XP)? Have you tried shutting off any other applications that might be conflicting with BAB somehow?

Thanks:) I tried comp mode and rebooting everything but still no joy. wonder if it could be an issue with resolution? Im running at 1920/1080. Other than that I am at loss, since Im not experiencing problems with any other games...
attaching dxdiag.
Thanks again:)

no as that's also what i'm using so is fine, will take a look at report now, but won't make too many comments until mods have replied or looked, as they are staff, i'm just a member / helper

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/hi ... -hd4600gfx

latest drivers ^^ just for a check normally windows will select latest anyway tbh, but site auto check and see if all is well

you will also need to do same for other card in laptop NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M

Image

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M so another dual card setup, which tbh can cause issues, not the first or last one to be seen either, asthe game has no idea on which one to use on it's own, the dedicated one with Display Memory: 4020 MB or the onchip one with 2gb and a lot less power, for me this is the issue, your not using the right card, but that's not your fault either, as dual card / chip laptops are or can be a pain to code for i'll think will be the answer, but there is good results in other threads for solutions just now need to find and link you one

Hybrid Graphics GPU: Integrated

Display Memory: 4020 MB
Dedicated Memory: 1972 MB
Shared Memory: 2048 MB (this is system ram, with only 8gb installed on a 64bit system, for me it would be better to be used by the system and not shared with the 2gb Integrated GPU imo

System DPI Setting: 120 DPI (125 percent)

i could give you links to problems with dual chip / card laptops and the reasons why they never do so well in gaming, but also don't want to upset you futher, as it's hit and miss if some games see of use second or first chip / card, as it's not the same as crossfire or Sli use either, it's a Hybrid setup...

sorry will be hard for me to fix or give much more advice tbh as it's a harder one..

Inconsistent game performance ^^

great for movies, not so great for gaming ^^

http://www.cnet.com/uk/products/lenovo-y50-touch-4k/

http://reviews.lenovo.com/8923-en_us/51 ... eviews.htm

own site reviews have more than a few comments on the same subject...

more up to date info can be googled by typing this Hybrid Graphics laptop errors

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hybrid_graphics

being a good one to start on ^^

most if not a high % give poor drivers and support the reasons or main reasons why most laptop either have errors or are poor in games, or certain games, works well on some, but very poor on others etc
