OOB issue (wrong report, resolved)

Post by AlessandroD »

Hello,

I noticed that in Wilson's Creek scenario the 13th Illinois inf battalion is armed like an HQ unit, also it has only 21 men.

Yeah, I debated whether to include such small, inconsequential units, and decided that it would be wrong to leave them out. They don't really do anything in the battle -- though I guess they could be used as cannon-fodder -- other than let us claim to have accurate OOB's.

As for their weapons, a unit that small doesn't get to have real weapons. Maybe when they grow up and become a full company...

IMHO, the attention to OOB and map (considering the lack of some historical data) detail is what makes this game superb.

Thanks! We like to think so.

It's surprising to me how often we lack information about which units were there, who commanded them, etc. And it's crazy to me that there has never been an all-out research project meant to come up with a definitive collection of such information for the whole history of the war. Give me a million dollars and a few American history grad students needing income and I'll do it, if no one else can be bothered.
