Historical accuracy?

Post by colt6900 »

To tech support

I seem to remember that admirals edition was researched even more than the original. However, I notice
some inaccuracies that I didn't expect. For example, there is no 18th division in the Japanese army.
I know it was formed in 1905 roughly and reactivated in the 30s and fought in Burma but it's not in the game?

Hi Colt6900,

This is more of a main forum posting than a bug. You might be surprised to find out that the folks that did the OB spent a lot of time and research on them and feel fairly passionate about it. (I.e. wear your flameproof underroos.)

Cheers,

Many units start out broken down and you can combine the parts into a larger unit. I believe the 18th is in the game, but broken down into its component parts.

Hello, as wdolson pointed out, you will find it easily in game, it is broken down to elements:
18th Infantry Division
Lt-Gen Renya Mutaguchi

This division supplied the troops used in the invasion of Malaya at Kota Bharu. The 18th Division attacked down the east coast of Malaya and participated in the Battle of Singapore especially at Bukit Timah.
55th Regiment - Colonel Hiroshi Koba
56th Regiment - Col. Yoshio Nasu
114th Regiment - Colonel Hitashi Kohisa
There probably are also 18th Cavalry Regiment, 18th Artillery Regiment and 18th Engineer Regiment (IIRC).
You will probably find them loaded on ships heading to Kota Bharu.

Update to historical accuracy in game.
I finally figured out how the game provides for the 18th division, and it may be a historically accurate method for all I know.
When you look at the command structure for each unit, If it is a sub component, It will list its parent unit.
Many of the divisions I was looking for, including the 18th division, I have now located and constructed out of subunits.

Are you not using Tracker? Simple to find them all through that.

Michael patched in the asterisks many patches ago. If an LCU has one in the LCU list it means it's a sub-component of a larger unit. The button on lower left of the unit screen lists all the components, where they are, what their HQ is, etc. I think this is what the OP is looking for.

Or Tracker. But in this case I find the game interface a lot easier to navigate.

Tracker, Tracker. I've only gotten it to work once, I gave up on it, too difficult to install, and then there's the betas[8|]
