red is where the Federal forces will be, blue is where i will be coming from and the blue line is where i'll be forming up and assaulting the heights and defenders from, poor choice of terrain for me, and i'll be lucky to survive the attacks

4, move to range with advance to by brigade move orders, then once there, change to assault for close in range attack, staying in formation and in regiments by brigades in line with skirmishes out, no charge or mass charge orders, as the units in the heights haven't been pre weakened so won't budge, my gun's are in support and all are in command radius

6, while all my moves go as planned and i'm fully in place for the next turn attack, i'm too weak to fully manage to do anything at all as i don't have the force modifier to push off units from this sort of defences no matter how i try from a frontal assault, with or without gun support, i need more men, lots more

7, while the men change to assault and get in line, they know it's might not be a mountain they have to climb, but it might as well be

14, 2nd unit surrenders and 2 more rout, battle is almost over before it has almost begun, this is why frontal assaults don't work

wont be long before my morale fail and i lose so i pull back and retreat before i lose the whole command, as i capture some guns my whole attack / assault fails and i fall back in full retreat and as the run becomes a rout i resign the game

those guns cost one regiment almost 300 men, the cost is too high, the butchers bill to much to pay, defeat is staring me in the face, and a frontal attack fails, but while the commander lives, most of his men under his command doesn't and defeat is a bitter sweet pill to swallow

know the ground,
when and when not to fight,
and when you can't move forward,
go around

learn the lessons commander, and learn them well, or your men won't live to tell the tale[&o][&o][&o]
