repositioning, rally and holding, and just holding on it seems as the CSA gets a brand new breath of air and goes out for my blood

seems now we are both content to sit it out as the fighting dies down a bit and we both lick our wounds, and all my units rally, so are no longer heading off the map, which is good[&o]

as the CSA re man's it's defences, i'm now back to where i was at the start, but do own the 2 back VL at least, but the cost for me is too high for both sides to call it a victory for either side tbh

seems the CSA / AI still wants to fight now as it leaves it's defences and advances towards me

only an hour to go, so i sit back and wait, hold and rally, pull back for better ground and dig in...

while that's ok for me, seems the AI / CSA has different plans and attacks, unless they think i'm retreating and finished, seems a strange move this late on but i will hold and fight once i get good or better ground, so may have a sting in my tail before the end

while my plan didn't go as planned fully, it didn't fail either, so wasn't a total disaster

Thanks again for your AARs [:)]

This time the AI behaviour has been bad, you was able to attack unseen from the rear (the cavarly in the right was useless) and in the last turns it left a good position for an uncoordinated attack.
PBEM is the way!!![:'(]

Zakblood are you interested in a PBEM game?

i'm off on hols again tomorrow for a week, so will for the moment have to say no sorry, and i wouldn't be very good at it either, as i know the AI, some of the time as i've been playing it long enough, and maybe sloppy in PBEM games, but will see what your doing when i'm back.

Nice play through, Zak! I noticed that when reinforcements arrive, the number of troops on the right side of the / mark does not change. So, it shows you have ~6000 troops out of a maximum ~4000.

This seems like a bug. I will ask in the main forum.

there's many ways to look at this, it may have seen my approach but couldn't attack, range etc and is scripted to not leave the defences too much or by too far maybe either, and why should it?

in the end it left as i was retreating, or so it may have thought and tbh i would have done the same near the end of time, as a few more looses and it may have been a draw as i only won by a hairs breath and have lost this a few times, draw it the most of any battle and won it the least, as it's a hard one to fully beat as played by the US side anyway.

so for me it's balanced and the AI does a good job or keeping you busy, and will punish you if you make silly mistakes or rushed moves, frontals and charges end in disaster here and will cost some very heavy losses for little gain.

there is time to fully take all the units around and attack as that's worked before just takes longer, and as the terrain is better there for your guns gives them better range and shots, only didn't do it this time as it's been done before, but may do it again as i like to compare battles and plans with results from different builds as well so as to see what else has changed.
