Beech Grove Alternate History scenario

Beech Grove Alternate History scenario (Jan._20,_1862)

This scenario is a “What_if?” alternate history scenario, in which the Confederates remained behind their defences at Beech Grove on Jan 9 instead of marching ten miles north to confront Gen.Thomas’s Union forces, and are then attacked by Thomas on Jan 20.

i start off here and aim to march all the way round there defences again, without being seen, hopefully, or will do a right side flank attack if spotted, or just go round even then, will play it as it happens tbh, and let what happens, happen, as all plans fail after the first shot is fired so battle on...

312 and counting, but will soon forget and not bother, as was going to count until 500, then give up counting, but already getting forgetful so maybe more already[:D][;)]

i hold one infantry unit back and also a cav unit just incase the CSA gets bold and wants to try and grab my guns of the hill, my reinforcements will be arriving soon, but as yet not on the field so make do with what i've got.

i reposition my guns and commander to counter some forward movements on the hill i'm on, plus place the held back inf and cav units in readiness to reply to any moves on my guns

my moves seems to have worked as no forward movement can be spotted towards my guns now, so far it's seems to be going to plan, anyway so i now move them back to cover more of the CSA defences

my rear flank moves go well, not spotted or fired on anyway as yet, all are in light to heavy woods so are best covered, guns are still active with plenty of supply and making good time regarding the terrain etc

while i see the AI repositioning its forces, no shots are fired at my men marching around the rear, as yet anyway, and still no moment from the heights towards my guns

i move the last few units then start to alter the orders and stance and then wait while they recover before i advance on the VH in front of me, note the time, made good time over the ground, morale and loses are good, just need to prepare the men, alter the stance and formations, alter the brigade orders and im ready to advance

while the men wait and orders gets changed, formation and stance to, they rest for an hour and move little while i prepare and recover, before the advance and attacks go in, or that was the plan, contact was made and the unprepared attack goes in

now i move with speed to attack them while they are in the wrong formations and stance hopefully, seems it worked as in the wrong stance and formation i soon over run the defender, one down anyway and less to bother my advance now, but has it held me up?

so did the cav unit do it's job and delay me a turn, only another one will tell for sure if the next VL is harder to take, then i've lost surprise and will have more of a fight on my hands

i set a infantry unit into charge orders and try and take the guns in front if it, with 3 units in support, my attack has the odds to win if it stays and fights that is
