Here is what I saw from the ground when they flew over:

6 Stearman biplanes
7 AT 6s
2 P-40s
1 A-26
2 C 47s
1 PBY
2 B-17s
1 B-24
1 B 29 (only one left flying)
2 Corsairs
4 P-51s
3 B-25s
assorted flight of SBDs, F4Fs
1 P-38
1 TBM

It was a great day to be in DC (since you would not really want to be here any other time)

Random question: Are there ANY Japanese bombers still flying? I know there are several fighters but are there any Betty/Nell/Sally/etc...
Betty was a good looking plane.

I prefer the H8K Emily, tough bird and very long range recon support and bomber roles.

I think an A-26 would better for a plane to go places than a PBY. I don't think anyone has landed a PBY on water in 30 years. If you did want to land it on water, you have to deal with extra corrosion problems as well as checking the hull for leaks. Plus a PBY is very slow. An A-26 has twice the cruising speed.

Bill

Slow, yes, but I can wander around from the nose turret to the side blisters. That interior is big enough for a nice little lounge with a table, a bed, a big screen LCD, and a nice minibar!

If I suddenly got into high frequency trading and was able to afford this kind of thing, I'd be thinking about journeys like this!

I got to go with Obvert here. You are more likely to actually hook up and have sex if you have a PBY..so long as there is a mini-bar. So it has to be my choice. That is....if I can get it past my wife.[8|]

There is only one B-24 flying too. The Collin Foundation must have been there.

If that's your goal, I suggest investing in a sorts car instead. It would be cheaper, and can get to the places where women who would likely be interested in that sort of thing are hanging out (like night clubs). Despite the picture, I don't think that's a very common scenario.

Personally I've never been the sort to do anything or buy anything for being seen doing it.

I'll take the PBY. I wonder how hard it would be to rig with down-riggers and a trolling motor?

I am in possession of Wonder Woman's invisible plane so I don't need any of those. I would put it on display for the public but it's well, invisible.

Is that a Goose? If so it's been re-engined. They originally had radials.

I wish I got a reconnaissance mission like this once in a while. Guess I better get a Catalina first.

Yeah, I just found some more pics. This is just too good. The bar right betwwen the side blisters. Too bad that girl's blocking the view. [:-]

I've been wanting one of these. The script on the front says "gorns bite".
