I knew there will be bad news for Allies...

Edit: Oops, I meant to say "you knew..."

Axis use all 4 points to reduce AA down to -1/3.

AA fire is quite effective.

Final result is X D A.

CV sinks from the first hit. Who takes D?

Edit: CV Glorious seems to sink about same day as in real war.

CL Cardiff is aborted on a roll 10.

Axis choose to abort CW CP.

Axis stay for more, how about Allies?

Axis 7, Allies 5 and combat is over.

Where does CL and CP abort?

Final results:

No damage to Axis.

Allies take D A. Ships are identical and CL Cairo is damaged. Which one takes A?

Second round:

Axis 10, Allies 9.

Rolls in North Atlantic:

Axis 2, Allies 6.

Only box 0 is selected.

Italy uses 2 points to reduce Allied damage to A. Italian sub takes only 1/2 abort on a roll 8!

Italy uses 2 points to increase own damage to X 3A.

I believe Allies stay until the end?

This is getting even more ridiculous.

Axis 1, Allies 10.

Again only 0 box is included.

Game was showing that Axis cause 2A (3 sub factors vs 5 ships) and crashed when Allied ships were about to take damage. I think damage should have been D.

When I reload it crashes again...

Axis would like to use 4 points to negate Allies damage and 6 points to increase own damage to X 3A (or X A if that is maximum).

Edit: Here is save file is it works with AllenK. I need to quit from today and figure out tomorrow how we get around this.

Perhaps it's recognised the continuing ridiculousness of the naval search rolls and crashed in shame.

One way to get around this is roll 10 and 10 so that combat is over. And if CW cannot replace destroyed/aborted CPs then CW will dump enough BPs to compensate both destroyed CPs and resources that came from America using destroyed/aborted CPs.

That way CW is forced to build CPs but gets them to play without waiting.

The combat result is reading okay. From RAC, "only the convoy points count as ships. Every 2 convoy points (and any spare point) counts as a ship." That makes 3 sub factors against 3 ships and the shown result is correct. By not spending 2 surprise points, the result is 2D, A. This is functionally the same as the X, A that would have been the result with all 6 remaining surprise points spent. The game was happy with that and didn't crash.

Figuring you would like to stay around to finish off the remaining CP's, I went for another round. Searches Axis 5, Allied 2. No effect on Allies. 4 surprise points used to increase damage.

I aborted it back to La Spezia.

Very good. It crashed on my computer every time. I think I should have tried to restart my computer.

It would have been better to take A and increase my damage. Then North Atlantic would been almost empty of CPs. Next time I'm smarter...

It generated a MadEx and froze each time I spent all six points, so it seems there is a problem. Fortunately, by spending 2 less the result was the same and it didn't crash.
