Combat replay omits some battles?

Post by jwolf »

Rookie player, first campaign, so I don't know if this is WAD or if something is actually wrong. In brief, the combat replay to our latest turn does not show a few engagements that actually occurred and are listed in the combat report. Here is a summary of the three omissions (note I am playing Allies):

1. A pair of empty Japanese sweeps against a base with no CAP;

2. Allied CAP intercepting a bombing attack against some Allied ground units;

3. An ASW attack which hit a Japanese sub hard. Actually there were two against this sub: the first, more moderate attack was shown but the second, which really hurt the sub, is only listed in the report and did not show in the replay.

In a PM conversation my opponent said he recalled seeing all of these when he watched the replay. I watched it twice and they are just not there. BTW my opponent also said that he can't see the replay again after he sends the turn to me. Is that true, or is there some way he can watch it again if he wants to?

This is a sync bug. There has been no determination of what actually causes the bug to occur, but it means that the Allied player will see the wrong replay. The in game CR or the Japanese CR are correct, but the Allied CR will also be incorrect.

This may have something to do with the escapes during the replay by the Japanese player or just having the game open too long. No one has confirmed the cause but these are two of the things that some have postulated might cause the sync bug. It sucks.

Try closing the program before every time you run a turn for both players. Make sure to restart your computer regularly too. [:)]

Once the bug occurs, does it affect only the one turn, or is the whole game compromised from this point? [:(]

Does the bug also affect the intelligence briefing (i screen) or is that info correct -- well, as much as it ever is?

It only effect combat replay. When You open save after replay everything is as should be.
Intelligence/ combat reports are probably affected by this bug because they are generated when You watching combat report.

It may come and go on various turns. As stated above, try closing program and turning off computer often. You'll know when it happens as you check the CR in-game after the replay finishes.

If he doesn't delete his emails (which I don't for this reason) he can just reload the turn in an empty savegame slot.

If he wants to watch again just load the 001 file.

If he hasn't played another turn yet.
