But she's still no match for HMS Victory (assuming Victory could catch her).

Consider: The USS Constitution is a 52-gun frigate with a top speed of 13 knots. The HMS Victory is a 104-gun first-rate ship of the line with a top speed of 8 to 9 knots.

I toured the Constitution while I was in Boston in 1984. It was an enlightening tour well worth my time.

It's not just the ship but the skill of the men!!

I have toured the USS Constitution and I am glad they are renovating her. She's a great ship and should be preserved. I am from the Boston area originally (Marlborough) and my cousins all live in and around Boston - Steve in East Boston, Marc in Arlington, Dan in Framingham. All brothers and very good guys. My dad is buried in Marlborough.

Time to share my USS Constitution model. Made in the '70's so she's a little dusty.

Ohhh I say!! [&o][&o]

Please please please - get a glass case for her. The dust must play havoc with that delicate rigging.

Nicely done Curtiss. I agree with Warspite here, get a glass case the ship is worth preserving :-) Oh and maybe a little pressurized air to dust her off a bit? Carefully [:D]

Since she's in dry dock while the Constitution is still afloat, I like the Yankee's chances [;)]
