Naval Warfare

Post by tcarusil »

I am not a sailor. I just played Okinawa 1945 and for the first time was confronted with having to deal with large numbers of naval units.

Unfortunately, many of them went to the bottom of the deep blue.

With ground units I can dig in when confronted by the enemy, but with the naval units I just don't have a clue.

So, any tips for keeping my ships afloat?

Thanks

There are going to be losses in Okinawa no matter what, with all the Kamikazes involved. But you can somewhat limit them by being proactive: Make frequent carrier strikes against the Japanese airfields, hopefully eliminating some of the Kamikazes before they can strike. Regardless, keep as much stuff on AS as you can and keep the carriers stacked with good AAA ships, like BBs, etc.

Thank you for the advise. My first go I had a number of air units on interdiction to try and whittle away Japanese reinforcements. I'll have to take a different tack to avoid large naval losses.
