Can you opt out of command yet watch battle

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

Just wondering if you can not assume any command position yet be able to roam the battlefield during a battle in progress ?

PS It looks great.

You have to pick someone, but you could pick a minor brigadier and let the AI handle the rest of the army. Then pan around as you like.

If you pick a senior officer you have the ability to 'take command' of any of your juniors at any time by switching the AI off. If you just want to move the camera around it wont be necessary. If you want to be able to play as anyone but are not willing to take the army commander there is an ini file entry you can add. You can jump around both armies then as you wish, turn AI on and off as required.
