Any chance you can shuttle the Manchuria army to Hakodate/Sapporo/Muroran? Or forces from Honshu to Muroran, and Manchuria forces to Honshu?

Generally I think that at this stage of war only fast single engine bombers or kamikaze are able to penetrate allied CAP.
Similar experience. 1E planes have much better results.

During the night Allied destroyers bombard Honshu at Ustonomyia and an xak is sunk by a Yank sub.
During the morning the fighters start sweeping Kushiro...CAP is built up and now the Lightnings are here too.
And after a few sweeps (most set at 36K), the Judys arrive. Look at those darn rookies in the Oscars, what formation, but can they penetrate the CAP. Plenty of warning for the Allies...

What a fearsome CAP![X(]

For the Emperor...we hit two CVEs once. Both get flight penetrating flight deck hits, but don't trigger heavy fires or heavy damage messages.

And that really is the turn...no bombing of Honshu.[:)] Although that will come.
Normal bombardments in my favor in Indochina, normal heavy bombing of my troops there by the Allies.
Planes losses are 94-46; factor out the 26 Judy losses and 7 Dinah losses doing recon over the base and the fighter ratio isn't that horrendous.
F4F-4 -- that is a plane from April of 43.

I heard sinking sounds during the turn, and naturally assumed it was my cargo ship that had a torpedo after 2nd bell; but she lives.
It must have been an Allied sub...one shows up as sunk. He didn't suffer any losses for me to believe something happened to a CVE.

Here is what is left of the Kamikaze unit. They took a morale hit...they should be jumping for joy. What is wrong with them?

Technically it was a mistake converting this squadron, since it removes in July, but will I even see July?

Subs sink with a "blubb blubb blubb" sound. Not the same as a surface ship.
Can you describe a surface ship sinking? "gurgle, gurgle, gurgle". lol.[:D]

I am behind the curve on destroying Thunderbolts, but I have destroyed a fair number these last two days.

You are quite correct, but fail to take my opponent's mindset into account. I can't see him playing this far, and not invade, given how aggressive he is. But, as usual, I am probably wrong.[:)]

The nice thing there too is that if P-38s, Corsairs and P-47s are in his CAP, they're not sweeping you. He should have the nasties here, the Spit VIII, but apparently left those behind. Those are the defensive fighters that would get you in trouble.
So. Keep it up! Nice hits on the CVEs. Sub time now. Hope you get a shot at them.

Where did you get the numbers? Did you factor in the airframes the Allies get as replacement groups arriving? Hard to do as this varies, as I found out when I tried to count them up.
How about the F4U-1, the earliest to arrive of the Corsairs?
With your already high loss ratio on both sides in the game yo duo have the chance to really run him out of airframes here for periods of time. By late 44 though he'll get plenty . Him using the Kittens is great for you. [:)]

Only lost 5 Georges for the day, which is really nice, and really the only plane I care about offensively...
Both kamis penetrated the flight deck with severe damage and also took out the damage control party on one of the ships (which lowers the experience level of the crew I believe).
He will obviously raise the altitude of a fair bit more CAP, what else will he do. Aggressive sweep and bomb Ominato? Night bomb Ominato? Sweep and bomb the HI to take pressure off targeting the industry?
Plane losses will be staggering.
I think for me I need to stage multiple kamikaze strikes from different bases all at max altitude, along with the sweeps of course. Plus beef up the fighter/aa/radar defenses of the HI. More mines everywhere there is industry within reach of his fletchers.

I stole them from a file...from Koniu? Fcharton? Can't remember now, but I know it accounts for replacements, production and arriving air groups as reinforcements. It is quite disheartening. It might very well be scenario 2 however.

RE: Unorthodox
I just wanted to post a hearty thank-you to Mr. Kane.
His advice really solidified my thinking in scaling back the attacks to sweeps and one Kamikaze high altitude attack.
I was able to rest two full squadrons of Georges yesterday, and I don't think I will sweep as much with lesser planes. More resting and cycling of fighter squadron sweeps.
I think also some sweeps with the lesser planes adjacent to his bases might disperse his cap and get better numbers on my side, in effect maximizing the effect of my inferior fighters.
This will be a long term action...but I need my Franks even if they A version is inferior to the R version as a sweeper it still will be here very shortly.
I am going to really beef up protection over the industry this turn expecting a major Allied bombing effort.
