Chesty Puller is rumored to have said " we have them right where we want them, they have us surrounded any direction we fire in will hit them."
Favoritism is alive and well here.

"Mr. Prime Minister sir...yes this report just in from the Admiralty...yes sir, that is correct...yes sir, the WHOLE BLOODY JAPANESE FLEET...yes sir, that's right sir...a New Zealander...a coast watcher spotted it just east of Saigon. Yes sir, our recon aircraft have confirmed...yes sir...estimated to be about 20 Capital Ships with at least 2 carriers we know of, along with about 100 escort vessels...destroyers, cruisers...likely subs also sir. Yes sir, this looks to be it...we have told our Far East Command to expect an imminent attack. Yes sir, the men are ready to fight sir. We have already sent a message to the French by the usual channels sir...yes sir, we don't know what the American's will do sir, but they seem to be as isolationist as ever sir. Yes sir...I'll send your thanks to the Admiralty...yes sir...lucky we had that coast watcher in place."

Subject : Japanese maneuvers
The British seem worried about the Japanese naval forces sighted off French Indochina. We are certain the Japanese wanted to be seen. Until the British and French report landings no special concern should be felt about Japanese movements. The Japanese are perfectly capable of sailing without being observed, and these sightings were last month. We have been hearing about Japanese forces in this area for quite awhile. There is nothing new here.
This is not to say the Japanese will not head this way, but we would be more worried if the Japanese fleet were not located.

Of course Japan needs to secure it's humanitarian aid for Bangkok, what with British and French openly alinged against us and them bristling with air and naval assests drawn from all parts of the globe.
Japan asks a simple quesiton, Would the French or the British send their transports loaded with food, medicine and building supplies through the Danish straights into the Baltic without escort ?
Such Eurocentric attitudes will always result in a war.

The reason for the continued whirled peas in this game, in my opinion, is because of the new "improve your cities" mechanic.

The United States has entered into a defensive relationship with Denmark.

Japan continues to live a peaceful existance of extending humanitarian aid and defending her allies. We do note however that the openly hostile British and thier cohorts the French have constructed harbors for warship construction which can only mean one thing, they are planning on fighting a war at sea.
Brazil has joined the Japanese sphere of influence, we look forward to extending the humanitarian aid to the South American continent in the near future.

The French do not take lightly the Imperialistic Japanese insinuation that they are a second rate world power, hence the linking of our peoples as British "cohorts". And since when is South America considered part of the Japanese "sphere of influence". More likely the Japanese need for oil to fuel its war machine even as witnessed in the recent takeover of the oil rich middle eastern area is behind this Japanese attempt at disinformation . We do hope that the rest of the civilized world can see clearly who the real "openly Hostile" nation is.
And the peaceful French and British program of rebuilding their respective merchant fleets after the horrific losses taken during the War with Germany are none of the Japanese peoples concern either.

Another round of whirled peas. China expresses boredom. Japan enjoys the "phony war".

The United States is displeased with the Asian and European interest in South America. We have strengthened our ties with Mexico and will continue diplomatic efforts to encourage hemispheric integrity.

Just letting everyone know I ended up opening the file for this 3 times. The first time I was halfway through the turn, was taking a break and one of my students turned off the computer....GRR. Second time
I accidentally pushed the 'declare war' button on Britain, when I meant to send a message, so I had to abort the turn. The 3rd time I actually finished the turn.
Apologies to all.

That "Declare War" button can ruin your day.
I was at the beach for six days so you all probably noticed a switch in computers twice, causing messages each time.

Those buttons are too damn close together. The declare war one should be way over on the other side of the screen somewhere......lol

Germany invades Czechoslovakia. Resistance is fairly muted.

The Italian Border Guards have been overwhelmed by Czech refugee's fleeing the advancing Germans, with the Civilians a large number of Czech military units are among the refugee's, Italy has on Humanitarian grounds allowed the units transit, only on the grounds that their transit to France will be speedy, no Czech units will be allowed to remain on the Italian border, once they leave Czechoslovakia they must withdraw to France.

Was wondering how Czech ended up over there....lol
Germany has gone war crazy and invaded Poland also.

Perhaps all Czech and Poles should be fought by, or donated to the Soviet Union. I wonder if anything but a phony war can be waged by the British or French against their recent allies.

The French have opened their borders with Italy and have begun to ready refugee camps for the Czech civilian and military streaming slowly across Italy to flee the advancing Germans. We thank the Italian government for its fair treatment of the Czech refugees. It is doubtful that the Poles can be saved though.

RE: GD1938 Game 19
It's been a strange few turns, I open the round and I get all sort of declarations of war and then agreements of peace. Two turns along and it's still the same. I'd say almost a bit suspicious. Collusion amongst players to game the system and gobble up neutrals without actually triggering any real fighting ?
