Tell me more about the Operational Map Interface?

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

Tell me more about the Operational Map Interface?

Post by ETF »

How does it work exactly? We are looking for a 6 player LAN game this weekend. Any suggestions on a scenario or should we just do a sandbox scenario?
On the operational map are there penalties for movement if one say moves their whole army down one rd to an objective?
Is there a manual for download or review online?

Can one be the overall commander and have say a corps under direct command also?
As a overall commander do I have any tools to assign or remove forces from one MP to another?

Oh no :(

Is this an engine issue? If so then never I would think. How sad.

Not an engine issue, we just ran out of time. The campaign mode was a huge undertaking that could have taken years and years, so we wanted to go ahead and get it out there, and it will grow, evolve, more features will be added.

oh Goodie!!! Nice to see you had the forethought to allow for further development in this area. Lets face it MP is the future.
Still surprises me the amount of people who still insist on playing with a child like AI (100% of the time). Never seen an AI in 30 years for anything more than training a newbie.

Our battle AI is very good - it is one of the things we pride ourselves on. I lost single player scenarios plenty of times in testing, in fact that is how we decide on the final scores :)

If you would like to really test it someday, use the restricted camera and play using couriers only. That evens the playing field a bit :)

Lost plenty of times with a balanced force......really ? Wow. Not really sure what to say :)
I agree the AI is decent. As AI's go.

lol - we will be having our usual competition for people who beat all off the scenarios, you sound like a contender.
