morale

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

morale

Post by Agathosdaimon »

Woot! got the game and it is great! i feel it is much easier to work out commands than in the previous scourge of war titles, on the whole very good and will only get better

one thing though is that i was playing that 11.30am French scenario and i noticed that no ones morale was going down at all - the fatigue was, but morale was still top for everyone, even those fighting in Hougoumont - is this correct? what will casue morale to go down?

Congrats on getting the game. Morale may decline based on firefight casualties over time but other factors are involved, locality of leaders, side and rear support elements, cover etc. I have already seem morale plummets, even surrenders, often due to melees or where enormous casulties are taken very quickly.

ps please send me a pm if you're interested in multiplayer games, we have a small SOW group here in Oz that play occasionally in the evenings - lots of fun.

cheers

High quality troops lose morale more slowly - the troops in Hougoumont were detachments from the Coldstream Guards IIRC. They also have at least one officer in there with them providing a morale bonus, and a good defense bonus from the walls.
