Custom OOB

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

Custom OOB

Post by xanth_ih »

Is there a way in sandbox to create a custom Order of battle? I want to make a sandbox game with all three branches (cavalry, infantry and arty) at a manageable level. To get all 3 in the default OOB's you currently have to pick Corps or above which I find unwieldy...I would like to be able to have (for example) a brigade of infantry and a bn each of cav and artillery. Appreicate any help!!

No - you would need to edit the OOB csv file to have the specific forces you want. We included the historic OOB.

Thanks. Are there any mods that will allow me to do the edit?

You can just open the file in excel and edit it. I would recommend making a copy of it first though. If it helps there are already a few Prussian divisions with infantry, artillery and cavalry in the historical OOBs that we provided.

There is a very active SOW modding community over on our forums - but they are only getting started on Waterloo.

Wouldn't some of the prussian "brigades" have cav support.

Just play a sandbox with a Prussian 'Brigade' (Division level) and you will have all three arms at your command. On the Sandbox screen 'Select a Commander' window, the little icons show the branches of service for each unit. For example, Tippelskirch has 4 infantry regiments, one artillery battery and one small cavalry regiment. You can make your own custom OOBs now using Excel or Open Office or wait for the OOB editor that will be released with the SDK.

Thanks for the help. As Jim mentioned, some Prussian units are about the size and composition I want. I will mess with the OOB editor as well.
